“Tea for Twenty”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 August 2014

Twenty of us arrived for a birthday celebration afternoon tea. Although we did not have a window table there was still a good view of the sparkling Southend sea. Our waitress took our order with military precision making sure she had everyone's cake choice. Afternoon tea was very good value, sandwiches, a scone with clotted cream and jam and a huge slice of cake with unlimited tea or coffee for only £8.25 per person. Would definitely recommend for both quality and quantity. We even took a doggie box of cakes home.

“Not nice”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 August 2014

We visited on Saturday 16 August for an early dinner, food took approx 30 minutes to come out and it was not very nice, the chips were cold the fish bland. I just don't think they can cope when they are busy. Won't be going again.

“Nice location, horrible food”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 August 2014 via mobile

Popped in after adventure land for a relaxing small meal before travelling home, only ordering 2 main pasta dishes and chips , took 30 mins to arrive at the table and was bland and not cooked properly, horrible ! Customer service was ok! But not great,
Best thing was view and drinks !
Definitely won't be returning

“Not impressed”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 August 2014 via mobile

Booked a table for an early dinner with our two children but needn't have bothered as the restaurant was almost empty.

When we arrived the receptionist just nodded in the direction of our table and said "that's your table over there" and then returned to whatever she had been doing.

We were then left waiting for a good while before being offered a drink.

Ordered a gin and tonic which the waiter brought over asking who was having the Hendricks and gin. Now I like Hendricks gin but we didn't ask specifically for it and would have been happy with the cheaper gin. I don't like this sort of sneaky upselling.

The service during our meal was lacklustre. Lots of staff standing around doing very little but we had to call someone over for more drinks and then it took ages for them to arrive ( husband has finished his meal before his drink arrived).

We would have overlooked all of the above if the food had been any good but my duck wrap was terrible and I had to leave half of it as the duck meat was chewy and impossible to eat. No one was overly impressed with their food.

The toilets were a bit of a mess and there were bits of rubbish on the stairs down to them.

This restaurant seems to be suffering by employing staff who just don't care or have any pride in the place.

We won't be returning.
