Review of Southchurch Park

We often visit Southchurch Park with our small dog. It is a beautifully kept park and we meet many people who regularly walk their pets here. When we visit on a Sunday we like to sit and have a coffee whilst watching the model boat enthusiasts sailing their pride and joy. Occasionally one boat will accidentally on purpose break down in the middle of the lake and another enthusiast will launch his tugboat to tow it to shore! A very tranquil experience.

Southchurch Park is one of Southends many lovely parks, its so serene with the lakes and ducks etc plus a really nice cafe. Its like a throw back in many ways, even got the cricket being played in the middle, how very English!

This is a lovely park which has wide open spaces, cricket pitches, ornamental gardens, lovely shrubs & flowers & trees, a great kids play area, football pitches, a lake and a cafe serving breakfasts lunch ice creams & snacks. All round a good place to be, close to the seafront and there is a corner shop nearby too for additional refreshments.

I went on a beautiful day with a lady in a wheelchair. Parking was fine inside the park but the paths leading to and around the pond were terrible! She had to hold tight most of the way round as it was a real bone shaker. We enjoyed sitting by the pond watching the swans although it was a bit dirty in there with rubbish collecting in a few areas. The little cafe in the park is old fashioned inside but staff were very nice. We only had an ice cream so can't comment on the food. Overall it was a nice experience only spoilt but the path, not a problem if you don't have a wheelchair or buggy.

Agree with other reviews that the park is very good, as is the cafe but the toilets let the park down. The male toilet had no paper, broken door handles and no locks. very dirty. Ladies toilet dirty and with broken handles. The toilets don't seem to be attended to during the day and are used frequently. Not a pleasant experience.
