Arrived at this Travelodge and the check in staff were sort of here's your key and off you go. We were not told where our room was or shown the way. When we did find our room it was clean but doubt very much if the newly refurbished rooms contained a king size bed.

First night was a bit catastrophic. The fire alarm went off three times and no staff to direct us where to go. It fell to a guest to call the fire brigade. As I was there with my 80 year old mother there was no help with her. She felt dizzy after having been woken up and there was not one member of staff to help.

Could not open the window as the outside ledge was full of crap and stank. Wardrobe rail fell down and hit my mum on the head.

All in all I would not recommend anyone to stay here.

Good location, slap bang in the town centre and a 10 minute walk from the Southend Utd football ground. However, the rooms were extremely hot even though it wasn't boiling outside. Yet, if you tried to open the window, you got all the noise of the nearby clubs and bars, meaning that, unlike their budget hotel competitor, a good night was not guaranteed!

Most of the staff were very helpful and a special mention must go to a lovely lady called Janet who couldn't have been more pleasant and helpful. We both went "Awwwww" as we got into the lift to go to our room after checking in!

Does what it says on the tin; good night's sleep, clean, comfortable, good location and value for money. Only thing I would say is that that shower curtains are not very hygienic, they would benefit from glass doors so you can have more room, and so they can be easily cleaned and you don't have to have it touching you as you shower.

Arrived found staff very friendly and helpful, and this continued for the duration of my stay

Room was spotless and I had no complaints. Its located close to the rail station (if you have a lot of luggage this may be important) and its just off the main shopping area. It’s a short walk down to the waterside. It’s not an expensive place to stay and did offer value for money.

Recommended!
