Stayed one night in route from Norfolk down to Brighton and found the hotel conveniently located of the M25. Because of our reward status with Marriott, we avoided the parking and Internet charges that others found irritating. The hotel was very busy when we arrived, but the staff was courteous and efficient in checking us in. They provided recommendations for local restaurants that proved useful. Taking a short drive into Waltham Abbey, we selected Le Spice that served one of the best Indian meals we have had in Britain. Our room was fine, basically what one would expect at a Marriott. Word of warning: the hotel does not have a lift, so if you want to avoid carrying luggage upstairs, request a room on the ground floor. The breakfast buffet was excellent, don’t think you could have asked for more, and even if you tried to restrain yourself, it was impossible not to over eat. Lincolnshire sausages were a personal favorite. Waltham Abbey Marriott is not a destination for tourists, but provides a good stopping point if you are driving north-south and wishing to avoid London.
