The Pavarotti restaurant in Westcliff is a quiet, friendly and romantic eaterie, with great food and service.
It's not cheap by any means, but if you want somewhere nice and quiet and don't mind 'pushing the boat out' then it's well worth a try.

A stunningly beautiful Italian restaurant in an unlikely location. The decor is spectacular and the service exceptional. But the best bit is the food! Perfectly cooked, every course was a delight and a fine example of true Italian cuisine - as opposed to "pizza and pasta" passing off as Italian. This restaurant deserves to have people queuing round the block and would not be out of place in the most sophisticated parts of the West End.

We visited on a Sunday lunchtime. There were no other diners and one waiter/cook. The food was poor. It may have been reheated in a microwave. There was absolutely no panache to the presentation. Two different main courses had the same warm red sauce poured over.

As a Sicilian, I know this is authentic and quality food - as for those who say the music is loud to cover the sound of the microwave, I am sure they are used to this in their own home, and rarely dine out. I live on the same block as this restaurant and see in the kitchen through the window and occasionally through the back when kitchen staff and owners carry fresh food in. They may use a microwave to melt butter, or heat items, but not cook dishes. I have never had a bad experience here, or before it changed names from Il Gattopardo - same owner, same great food. It only changed names because some customers could not pronounce it, and had no idea what it meant (The Leopard).

We were visiting the restaurant on a Monday evening.
We were the only visitors at that time.

We were 5 gentlemen that ordered 3 different starters and 5 main courses and we were served at the same time and it was a gourmet experience. We were hungry. :-)

The food was excellent and the service superb. A very friendly host.
