We went to a show at Cliffs Pavilion, & fancied a meal after, we walked down to a little group of restaurants we had spotted earlier. Piccolo caught our eye but considering we were quite late we weren't sure if we would be welcome, well, we couldn't have been more wrong, the very friendly staff assured us it was no trouble. We had an amazing meal, & even though we were last in the restaurant, we didn't feel rushed. We decided the next day we would stay another night in Westcliff, we didn't give another thought, straight back to Piccolo's , receiving a lovely warm welcome back & more delicious food. Definitely will be returning next time we are in the area.

Great food. Really good atmosphere. Someone proposed whilst we were there, and people all around got involved in congratulating the couple etc. Only problem was the bill took a long time to arrive when requested, and it had an extra drink and two desserts on it. Took two attempts to get it corrected, but was done eventually. Overall recommended, and will consider returning again.

Turned up without a booking for a pre Cliffs Pavilion concert meal and despite being very busy with pre concert diners they were able to accommodate us.
The pasta dishes we ordered were excellent. The best seafood pasta dish my husband said he has had for a long while and my lasagne was very tasty. The only reason I have not awarded 5 out of 5 is the Apple crumble for desert was tasty but very soggy- not a crumbly crunchy topping. Think it had been warmed in the microwave which always makes crumble soggy.
But will definitely return.

Having mentioned when booking that this was a pre-show meal and reminding them upon arrival that we were resticted to 90 mins until we had to leave for a show we were prompty shown to our seats. 45 minutes later our order was taken, despite us flagging down various waiters in between. At this point we knew we only had time for 1 course rather than the intended 3. When the main eventually arrived (about an hour after arrival) vaious sides were missing. We decided we should be greatful to have recieved any food at all. Soft drinks were room temparature and poured from a plastic bottle at the bar - and were therefor flat. We removed the tip that they automatically added to the bill and rushed to the show. Fortunately the show made up for the awful experience at this restaurant.
We did have a view until a staff member parked his large van right in front of the window blocking what was a good view of the river Thames.

We popped in here with our two children after the theatre for some dinner. They were very accommodating to our baby (13 months old) immediately getting him a highchair, breadsticks and a book to keep him amused. They also adapted the menu to suit all of our choices. The food was lovely, especially the garlic bread which we loved and had another portion! It was very refreshing to feel welcomed with our children rather than be made to feel we shouldn't be eating out with a noisy baby. Would definitely return and would recommend. Wish more places were like this, it was very much appreciated.
