“Great park”
Reviewed 8 August 2013

Always take the grandchildren to Chalkwell Park - swings and slides for young children and separate area for older children. Nice new cafe but unfortunately closes at 5pm which is a shame considering the lovely summer evenings we are having lately. It would be nice to be able to have something to eat or drink.

“Or "Chalkwell" Park, to give it it's proper name >>>”
Reviewed 4 August 2013

Despite Southend being a vast built-up area there is a haven of tranquillity within Chalkwell Park.
It comprises children's playgrounds, plenty of car parking, and is home to a number of sports events and fairs etc. during the year.
We have visited the fairs on a regular basis - always safe and well-managed ... and FUN!
It also has ornamental gardens, a sun garden and a rose garden - well worth a look-around.
What was the "Chalkwell Park Rooms" is now called the "Park View Suite" and houses a number of events - receptions, functions, etc.
Chalkwell Park is also handily-placed: go one way you have the busy town centre: go another way you have the Chalkwell and Westcliff beaches: in yet another direction you have Old Leigh.

“Fantastic Park”
Reviewed 11 June 2013

This park in quite local for us as we are in Southend. It is a lovely park with plenty to do.

There are two children's playground here. One for younger children (up to about 6yrs) on a grassed area and a larger one near the main London road for older children, which is a great idea. There is a large field near the car park which is ideal for playing games and flying kites. There is often bouncy castle days here in school holidays. Also a large pretty rose garden to walk around, further grassed area, pond with bridge and a cafe near main kids playground.

The toilets are located just on the main street next to the children's playground. Please be aware you do have to leave the park to use them but they are right next to it.

Car park and entrance can be found on Chawkwell Avenue. parking free but limited. Also entrance on London road for pedestrians.

Would recommend Chawkwell park
