I've stayed here on two occasions now and both times have been great. Garry and Penny are lovely and welcoming with great advice on where to eat. Making a real effort to make the stay a home away from home. Thank you.

Often in business travel to Southend on Sea, I used to sleep in classic hotel.
Gleneagles guesthouse is an excellent choice. Cheaper than an hotel, the quality is better
I had a premier room with seaview.

+ The location is perfect : sea view, 1 min walk to downtown
+ The bed is very confortable. My business trip became a rest.
+ The owner are very friendly and smart
+ Breakfast is succulent, made with fresh local product

- Nothing

This address is perfect.

Room Tip: Premier room with sea view are large (with a little living room) and confortable I don't try the other

Dear gvincent26

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. I am glad you enjoyed your stay with us and more importantly enjoyed the change from corporate hospitality. We set ourselves apart by treating you as a Guest in our home and not a Room Number. We also pride ourselves on the quality of our produce and take care to source suppliers or produce from the local economy wherever possible. We look forward to seeing you again soon.

Thanks again

My partner booked us a one night stay here as he was taking me to Southend for a Birthday treat. We arrived earlier in the day and we parked on the street, paying at a near by meter only to find out when we checked in later that we could have been given a parking voucher. We received a warm welcome and went straight to our room. The room itself was lovely. We had a perfect view of the sea and the room was large, comfortable and clean. We had a suite which consisted of a living area as you entered (with settee, table, fridge and also chairs in the bay window) with a shower room off one side and an archway off the other through to the bedroom. Usual amenities (tv, hairdryer, tea/coffee making & also free wi-fi). Was impressed that there was a good selection of teabags, coffee, hot chocolate sachets, milk & two lots of biscuits (one often finds there is not enough milk, in particular, in such places, which can be annoying) And also impressed by the good quality soap/shower gels - which smelt heavenly. In the morning there was rather a long wait for the cooked breakfast - almost half an hour (but we received an apology and explanation that everyone had arrived at once - and it was well worth the wait - especially as they had gone to the effort of placing a birthday candle in my hash brown - which was a lovely touch - and tasted delicious - and we were not in any particular hurry). Whilst we waited my partner had museli and we also had two rounds of toast with some particularly tasty homemade marmalade. On checking out we asked the owners for suggestions of where to go for the day (as it was, by now, raining so our original plans were scuppered) they were extremely helpful, offering suggestions and checking opening times etc on their computer for us. All in all a very pleasant stay.

Stayed in Southend on business at short notice, and found Gleneagles a welcome change to the usual corporate hotel chain experience. Great welcome, friendly service, every effort made to help by owners & staff. Excellent view from the top floor room, and a fantastic breakfast. Would definitely stay again!

Dear HAJF

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. We are glad you enjoyed your stay. We try hard to separate ourselves from the corporate feel and treat Guests as we would anyone visiting our home. We think this is very welcome to those travelling through work which can be quite a lonely existence. It would seem we have succeeded and we look forward to seeing you again
Thank you
