“Rejuvenated, classy pub”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 January 2014

We've eaten at the Red Lion 3 times in as many months and have been really impressed on every occasion. The food is good quality pub food at a reasonable price and there are always a selection of local ales and beers on offer.

The pub itself has been tastefully decorated and there are lots of little touches (old photographs of the area etc) that really help to create a warm and inviting atmosphere. Open fires and a buzzing atmosphere make this a great evening out.

My personal favourite touch is the inclusion of all the landlord's names along the top of the wall near the bar dating back to over 100 years. Perfect!

Brilliant!! Great location, great pub. Riverside walk with a fantastic lunch (early or late) or dinner (early). What's not to like. Good beer to boot. Give this a try, you won't be disappointed. Dust off the walking boots, soak up the location and end up at this pub to relax and enjoy the hospitality.

“An amazing transformation”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 December 2013

We have lived in picturesque Arlingham for the past 12 years and never really visited the pub, finding it cold and uninviting with poor food and a poor atmosphere, favouring a drive to Cheltenham to eat out. The village bought the pub in 2013 making it a freehouse owned and run by the village and since then we have visited three times in as many months.
We visited for dinner on a Friday night and were very impressed by the transformation inside - a contemporary environment helped by a complete interior renovation, a comfortable bar seating area and open fires.
The food is still pub food, but is well thought out and well presented. We enjoyed all of our meals and would recommend the scallops and venison. The puddings are very nice, looked homemade and the portions are enormous. Our only criticism is we found the pub to be a little cold considering the outside temperature.
Overall we had a great meal at the Red Lion and will definitely be recommending it to friends and taking people who come and stay. We will definitely be back.

“Wonderful Home Cooked Sunday Roast”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 December 2013

We've been to the Red Lion many times prior to its recent transformation and were really looking forward to seeing how the locals had transformed it. Beautiful colours, décor tastefully done and wonderful antique settles and chairs- so clean and a real lovely warm atmosphere as you walk in. It just felt like somewhere you would want to spend some time. It's taken us quite a few weeks to get there for a Sunday roast since it opened its doors again in November but we were very very impressed- in fact it was the best roast dinner I've ever had outside of a home-cooked one!! Delicious!! Good helping of beef, gravy, lovely roasties and Yorkshire pudds and lots of veg on the side- wonderful!! My 3 boys had chicken, lamb and pork and again very good portions. It seemed rude not to have a dessert and the sticky toffee pudding was to die for- better than mine!! We'll definitely be back for more - well done Red Lion-ers!!! xxx

“Excellent Country Pub”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 December 2013 via mobile

We have now eaten here twice and visit occasionally for drinks.
The atmosphere is welcoming, the food is excellent, restaurant standard.
The village has been lacking a good quality pub and focal point for many years, so refreshing to have the Red Lion back to its best. The Uley Ale is particularly special.
We will defiantly be back soon...
