“Beautiful cottage in a wonderful village, totally chilled out”

You can't fault this cottage and area. Steep stairs, and mind your head when walking down them!! Everything you need in the cottage. Beautiful touch was a fresh granary loaf and real butter left to have. Great pub down the road called great western arms. A very quiet village, but superb. The cottage had beautiful views.
Totally chilled out did not want to leave!

“Lovely week in the Cotswolds”
Reviewed 15 September 2016 for a stay in September 2016

My husband and I stayed at Meadow View Cottage in Blockley for a week with our 1 year old little boy and 2 dogs. We had a really nice stay, the cottage is lovely. Blockley is a nice little village, it has a little village shop and cafe and the cafe does really yummy cakes! It's not far to drive to the different villages and there are lots of fields around to take the dogs!

There are a couple of things to note, even though the property allows children, it's not very child friendly. We brought a baby gate with us from home just in case and we had to buy another one when we were there because the stairs are so steep in the property and we were terrified of our little boy falling as he does like to climb up and down stairs.

I was a little disappointed with the garden as well. It says private garden that requires access for neighbours. Basically, it's a terraced house and everyone has their own garden BUT for each handful of properties, there is a pathway from the road that leads to their back door and garden (if that makes sense). So basically you can walk off the road into anyone's garden and there are no gates at all so if you have a little child who likes to wonder and dogs that are used to running around in a garden, it can be quite hard work if you want to sit outside. However, saying this, there are fields around the area so there are lots of places to take your dogs which was handy and if you don't have children, it's absolutely fine and the views are BEAUTIFUL!!

Overall the property is really lovely and if we had just come as a couple, it would have been perfect.

I would definitely recommend the property to adults and family's with older children but if you have very young children, I wouldn't recommend unless you take 2/3 baby gates with you. As for those of you with dogs, if your dog is well trained then this property is fine but if your dog isn't then it can be a bit stressful.

Management Response
23 Sep 2016
"Character Cottages, as a marketing agency, does not look after or maintain any cottages. The following is written by the owner of Meadow View: "Thank you Abby for taking the time to write a review and for your fair and accurate observations on Meadow View.
The cottages in Park Road are three story terraced artisan cottages that were built during the peak of the local silk industry and so you would enter off the road and go down one flight of steep stairs to the lower ground floor kitchen dining area and garden, with views across the valley.
The bedrooms are reached by a steep and winding staircase which we appreciate does present a challenge for young children and anyone who is infirm. This point is covered on the Character Cottages website, and is a common feature of these older cottages.
We do also note that the garden is not enclosed and therefore neither dogs or young children can be left unsupervised. We welcome children and well behaved dogs, but under the guests' control and supervision."

“Stay there...you won't regret it!!”

The cottage was nicer and bigger than it looked and the view from the garden was simply beautiful. Watching the sunrise in the morning and the stars at night made the holiday very special. Do not hesitate to book!!!
