We looked online an saw a fantastic menu and chose eating here over going to Morton on marsh however we turned up and the menu was completely different not even slightly similar to what we had seen. We had soup which was a bit bland but the steak was delicious and really enjoyed it. Small but comfortable and very easy if staying in Blockley as you can walk home after a few drinks.

Thank Robyn C

Small friendly pub serving up good wholesome food. Your typical pub grub cooked well and at reasonable prices, (price range £8-£13). The kitchen is very accommodating and will taylor most meals to suit. If you want chips with your chicken, it's on the menu, but if you prefer potatoes and veg then simply ask and it's provided. The fact that the chef also happens to own the pub ensures that the food served is always to a high standard. Good size portions means that on both our visits, we could never manage a "pudding" which was a shames as they looked delicious. Be prepared to have 5/6 locals always stood at the bar in the lounge/dinning area. A small corridor takes you through to the 'bar' area complete with a small pool table, a place we never neede to visit. Can get busy particularly at weekends so it's probably best to book a table in advance and we're told, a must for Sunday lunch.
As there's virtually no other pub in the village of Blockley, eating in this pub every day for a week wouldn't be a problem. Tip....try the Steak & Hookey (local ale) pie. Delicious !!!.

My husband and I were staying in Blockley for a week and visited the Great Western Arms twice; for Sunday lunch and then for dinner. It's been recently refurbished and so has a lovely bright and welcoming atmosphere. Sunday lunch was great with lovely food and good sized portions - the staff were very accommodating and able to offer some different options for the children in our party. We returned for dinner another night and weren't disappointed - again the food was great. It was quite busy on both occasions (always a good sign !) so you might want to book in advance.

Nice, friendly place. Relaxed and easy going, helpful staff. Good home cooked food with choice of eating the restaurant or joining the locals in the bar. Well worth a visit if you are staying locally.

Ate there thi weekend. The food was good pub food presented well and very tasty. The service was poor, waited a long time for assistance at the bar, asked the waitress for sauce which never arrived. I will return though and give a second chance.
