“2 star property at 5 star price”

On arrival cottage was not that clean, lights in bathroom did not work nor in second bedroom, down light in kitchen required replacement, spotlight over kitchen table not working, similarly light in front room on wall. Meat left in freezer which was switched off therefore was hardly hygenic and required scrubbing out. Garden was untidy and the entrance path had to be swept of earth. A deposit has to be left in the event of breakages, understandable, however there is no inventory to check against reference what was serviceable or not and as the week progressed we started to notice items which required repair or were broken tucked away in cupboards and sideboards.
On the upside the cottage is functional but very overpriced. I base this judgement on the fact that I have over the past 6 years hired cottages in England and have paid similar prices for properties that leave this one very wanting

After receiving the phone call regarding the meat left in the freezer i immediately offered housekeepers to return as I was rather bewildered with this to say the least. The guest did not want this service as they had already sorted this. I did comment to the fact that I would not clean this up myself ! So despite the complaint we were not required to check and more importantly rectify.
The garden during the season is on a fortnightly contract and therefore maintained.
All appliances are useable and should they not work I would replace. Unfortunately I was not informed of this. After departure the cottage was checked and broken items and so forth tucked away we could not find.

“Excellent cottage in a central Cotswolds location”
Reviewed 9 November 2015 for a stay in September 2015

Picturesque cottage in a quiet location within easy reach of Cotswolds attractions. Kitchen was well equipped for provision of meals for 2 couples. Beds were large and firm although pillows a bit flat. Bathrooms were good with sufficient space. Wifi was good and reliable. Although onsite parking is not available, there was never a problem at street level within 20 yards of the cottage. Ceiling heights were good as the taller 6'4" members of our party at no issues with bumping heads. Snug/lounge area was large and comfortable. Blockley is a quiet village with good facilities and a great base for exploring everything the Cotswolds has to offer. Our party of 4 adults stayed 5 days and would do so again if the opportunity arises.

“A little TLC needed”

Comfortable cottage in a lovely spot, just a little more attention to detail needed. The understairs socket for the freezer doesn't work so the freezer can't be used. The lights above the kitchen table don 't work. The garden needs tidying and comfortable garden chairs would be nice as we had good weather. The dustpan is broken. Some of the drawers and cupboards are really messy and untidy. But we enjoyed our stay and with a little care this cottage could be idyllic as the village is beautiful.

“Quiet Retreat in the Cotswolds”
Reviewed 16 June 2015 for a stay in May 2015

Rosemary Cottage is in the delightful village of Blockley. Blockley does not attract busloads of tourists and is therefore very peaceful.
Rosemary Cottage has 2 bedrooms both with ensuites. The cottage is well equipped and very cosy.. The Village shop and cafe has a good range of stock. There are 2 pubs in Blockley.
We enjoyed several walks in the area and it is a short drive to the main tourist attractions in the Cotswolds.
We visited Morton-in-March, Stowe-on- the- Wold, Chipping Campden, Broadway etc.
Roseamary Cottage is well located , good value and delightful to stay in.

We appreciate that cleaning errors can be made and as with any property, there are occasions when emergencies occur and a rapid response is required. In this case the housekeeper arrived, with the cleaner within 90 minutes of the first phone call. However, her offer to re-clean the cottage was turned down. There was a small rust mark (5p size) on one of the towels and when pointed out to her, the towel was replaced immediately by the housekeeper.
Having received a phone call at 7.45pm regarding the shower leaking, the housekeeper arranged for the plumber to visit at 8.30am the next morning having first established that once the shower was turned off, the leak stopped. We understand that this lady’s son told the plumber that he thought he may not have closed the shower door properly. There were no leaks from the shower before or after this booking. There is no problem with the ceiling. Ceilings in old cottages are uneven!
Rosemary Cottage was assessed by Quality in Tourism one week prior to this guest’s arrival. It was awarded 4 stars, with a cleanliness rating of 95%. Quality in Tourism (QiT) is the official assessment service provided for VisitEngland, the national tourism agency. We are happy to provide a copy, on request, of their assessment
We have never made a call out charge in the past, and would only do so in extreme circumstances – and certainly never when there was a genuine problem.
We would just like to quote one guest who stayed in the cottage in May 2012
“We stayed in Rosemary Cottage last week and I would just like to say what a lovely place it is. We are staying in different cottages for several weeks at the moment and it's always so much more pleasant to stay in one like yours…….”
We were very sorry that Rosemary Cottage did not meet this guest’s pre-arrival expectations and that nothing we could do would change this.
