Description: The Hare & Hounds is situated in the popular country park known as Werneth Low, some 800 feet above sea level with panoramic views overlooking five counties! Outside there is a telescope positioned on the patio for customers to survey the stunning views. Being close to Manchester Airport, planes can be seen banking down almost at eye level! Historically this used to be a farmhouse with two cottages owned and run by a local farmer. At one stage part of the area outside was a racecourse so many locals would come to watch the horses. In the car park there is a WW2 bunker which housed telephone lines and connections to Whitehall. Going even further back in time there is an ancient burial ground in the field next door! Coming back to the present day this destination food house has nooks and crannies, three open fires and a total of 148 covers inside and a further 80 outside for the summer months. Like all Chef & Brewer pubs we employ high quality Chefs who have superb kitchen facilities. The food can be chosen from a main menu or unique Specials from the chalk boards which allow our Chefs to show their flair! You will be served meals which have been prepared from the freshest of ingredients and cooked to order. To complement your meal there is an extensive choice of quality wines or real ales and other drinks are available at the bar. Alongside our dining clientele we welcome many from the local farming community, ramblers and visitors to the park who pop in for just a drink. This helps to make us a relaxed, comfortable all round pub. You can be sure of a quality experience when coming to the Hare & Hounds

Have eaten here before. Fantastic location with fabulous views, but the food has declined since our first visit and was poor and unappetizing. You could only mitigate it by saying it was cheap. Service was poor, tables remaining uncleared and uncleaned. Won't be back.

I went up to H&H with my daughter for lunch. As I would have expected on a day as hot as this, it was very busy. We managed eventually to find a table outside with a parasol. The table had recently been vacated and was full of other people's plates/rubbish. We had to ask for this to be cleared when our food arrived. The young lady who took our food order at the bar was very pleasant and helpful, the rest of the service was indifferent. The food was appalling. We were told on ordering that we would have a 40 minute wait. The food came out within 10 minutes and it was awful. Stilton and Peppercorn mushrooms were served on a garlic muffin and the stilton was overpowering. The quality of the rest of the food was just poor. It's such a shame about this place as it could be a gem. Every couple of years I think i'll give it another go and everytime is disappointing. My advice: fine for just a drink but find elsewhere for food.

I have reviewed this restaurant twice previously and I am pleased to say that on this visit the place was much improved. We went on a very warm evening and found the place to be very busy-as we expected-it's in a lovely spot. The kitchen was obviously very busy but the staff were really good and did their best to keep up and the waiting times were not too long. Can't fault the food, it was excellent, my only small criticism is that the outdoor tables were not cleared and cleaned very well, even after asking for our table to be wiped it was still a bit sticky. Well done H&H, you're getting there!

Went for a meal with family. Overall the service was excellent & I could not fault the service or the staff. I ordered the fish & chips and when it arrived I was pleased to see the fish was a good size but down point and only complaint there was no more than 10 chips on the plate. For what you charge I'd expect more than this. But overall everything else was good with no complaints.

Went on a Sunday, was told all of the Sunday roasts had sold out (even the veggie one) at 7pm (which the bar staff commented that was good, as last Sunday they ran out sooner?!).

Sat on a bar table (as restaurant was 25 min wait), table was sticky, as was the diners next to us as i heard them remark on it. Could not even see the view from where we were, which is what we went for. Not much menu choice for veggies and found food was over priced.

Would not hurry back.
