“why 'o' why!”
Reviewed 25 October 2011

Why has this gone on for so long?? The complaints just keep on rolling in. The staff at other .P. Inns never questioned my reasoning for changing hotels, so its common knowledge! I genuinely feel we should be compensated, not just a refund for the disgrace of a so called 'food serving' establishment. I have never had to eat such disgusting food, some of which we didn't reconise! The surrounding were beyond words, the filthy sticky tables not to mention the smell and to add to the torcher the staff are so demoralised I'm sure they would rather be somewhere else! The hotel staff were of the usual good standard and the rooms were clean but we must have had a bad night as we got very little sleep, it was so NOISY!!!

We were very impressed with the Premier Inn which was very clean and fresh. The Reception team were all welcoming, friendly and helpful. And thank you to whoever came up with the idea for a curved rail for the shower curtain which means the curtain doesn't try to hug you when you take a shower.
However, the comfortable accommodation is badly let down by the connected pub/ restaurant. Opening the door from the Premier Inn to ‘The Mottram Wood’ is like entering a portal into another world. It is decorated as a woodland scene with fake trees, pretend cottages and a ‘quaint’ wooden bridge which spanned – well, nothing really. The thick dusty foliage, black ceiling and cottages meant the un-enchanted wood was very, very dark. Even during breakfast, the room had to be lit with lanterns hanging in the trees. I thought the floor was authentic too, until I realised the crunch under our feet was due to discarded crisps and food rather than dead leaves and sticks.
I mentioned it to the lady supervising breakfast that the cooked breakfast was cold. She was very apologetic and took it away. Another breakfast was brought out a while later which was hot, but obviously given an additional blast in a microwave just to make sure. As a result, the bacon and sausages were rubbery.
I would recommend the Premier Inn, but wouldn't go into the woods. As mentioned in an earlier review, seriously consider eating at the McDonalds which is nearby.

We've stayed at this Premier Inn three times, for three days each time, over the last few months and found it consistently clean and comfortable. We got the £29 offer each time, which was great but it would have still been OK at the full price. Staff were courteous and friendly and sounded genuinely interested in us and our welfare, though some might find the odd one a little nosy. Extraordinary good value. However the restaurant, the Mottram Wood, previously called the Outside Inn because the inside looks a bit like an outside - all faux cottages, waterwheel etc was really grubby and dark. At least half the light bulbs were not working, the place was gloomy and depressing and there was a thick layer of dust all over the plastic plants and wood beams. The meals were fine if you could stand the surroundings. We put up with it the first time but always ate elsewhere, even for breakfast, later.

Room Tip: Ask for one not facing the motorway.

We stayed here overnight for a wedding nearby, the staff were extremely helpful and let us have an early check in. The rooms were larger than other Prem. Inns, very clean, new shower curtain, everything looked newish. Very quiet at night, We had the Continental breakfast which was plentiful, juices, fresh fruit, porridge, cereals, toast, crumpets, dried fruits, teas, coffees, etc. if you wanted full English it was cooked fresh - not left for hours under the heat lamps. You can dine in the evening 2 for £10.00, all in all one of the best P. Inns we have stayed in.

Stayed overnight in this Premier Inn when going to a match, chose it because I got a £29 deal. As usual, it delivered what I needed - a good night's sleep in a handy location with no trouble and no fuss. The hotel is conveniently located on the outskirts of the city, 5 minutes from the M60 so it's easy to get into the city centre.

Staff were friendly at check-in and check-out, never needed them otherwise. The floors are quite creaky but I was on the top floor so I wasn't troubled by it. The whole place was really clean and tidy, including the room which was spacious and well equipped.

The hotel is next to a road that's busy until late evening but it's no problem if you're out for the evening and there are plenty of rooms on the other side where you can't hear anything. There's also currently a building site over the road which is noisy during working hours.

Ate in the city in the evening then skipped breakfast so can't comment on the food - usual cheap-and-cheerful chain fare, I expect.

At that price and for an overnight base, I'd definitely stay again.

Room Tip: Get a room on the top floor to avoid creaking from the floor above.

My wife, baby and i stayed over for 1 night in September 2011 when we visited family, we where greated by very friendly staff. The room was quick large as i had opted for a family room, it was very clean and exactly what you would hope to expect. The only downfall was the heat, you could not cool the room down and was slightly noisy as it was situated by the exit, slightly overpriced by a nice stay.
