This is our third stay at this hotel, which we use when we attend concerts at the Phones for U arena. We paid £46 room only for a spacious double room with TV, mini bar, tea/coffee making facilities and plenty of storage. On check in, we asked for a room with a view of the quays, which we were given and I was pleased with this lovely view. The room was clean and tidy. The carpet was a bit threadbare and some may call the decorations a bit dated, but at such a cheap price, we weren't complaining. The public areas of the hotel appeared in good order. Reception staff were pleasant and helpful. Parking was free and plentiful. Loved the convenience of being opposite the tram stop into Manchester city centre. From the hotel, it is a 15 min walk to the Lowery Outlet Mall - well worth a look and we loved the M&S outlet shop. There's a food court there too and a Bella Italia. Would stay at the Copthorne again as it's very reasonably priced and comfortable.

Room Tip: If you like a nice view, ask for a room with a view of the quays.

Stayed here for two nights on business. Arrived late and was given adjoining room. Sadly the people next door were up at the crack of dawn and were extremely noisy. The room decor was flowery and very old fashioned. The coloured bathroom tiles are hideous and garish. Staff seemed to be struggling to stay away and have an air of I don't give a monkeys. Dinner was uninspiring and the only plus point was the cooked breakfast. Point to note, large glass of wine at the bar is £7.95. You are better off heading to tescos instead of being forced to say exuberant prices.

Stayed in this hotel on business for 1 night and won't be back in a hurry. Very tired and scruffy looking hotel with extremely unwelcoming reception area. And please buy your staff some new decent uniforms. Old shiny tight fitting uniforms are not attractive and if a company insists on a uniform the least they can do is provide a decent one! Rooms are badly in need of a makeover and the 70 s style orange and blue bathrooms are not attractive. Carpets were stained and worn and bedding and towels very very worn and skimpy. I have avoided Copthorne hotels for some time now as previous really high standards seem to have dropped and had to take this one through necessity but I am afraid I will continue to avoid. Staff did their best and were very pleasant, but I did feel sorry for them trying to make the best of this tired hotel.

If you like us you are going to the match then for location this is an excellent choice as its just a 10 minute walk to the ground - and its really easy to get to from the motorway. Also just a couple of minutes walk to the tram with access to the city centre and media city (the Lowery Centre). We were unable to check in before the game so like many others we had a pre match bite to eat in the bar. For such a large hotel the bar area is really small with few seats - we had the match day special curry - most was left on the plate - bland and chicken very dry. The room was okay - like others have said could do with being refurbished but at least the bed was comfy and we had a good nights sleep and thats really all we wanted. Had expected a good northern breakfast - good selection and the hot breakfast looked inviting. But like the lunch the day before the quality was disappointing was didnt meet our expectation. So in summary, had expected a little better from a 4* hotel. but I would stay here again as its a great location for an afternoon at the footy.

Room Tip: Take something to help you pull the plug out of the sink!!!! Yes sound odd to say that but it was a...

A colleague booked me in here for a work trip, and the hotel was indeed close to the venue for the event I was attending.

However, I would not bother to stay here again. On the plus side, breakfast was served in a room with a great waterfront view. However, stuff were inattentive at breakfast, and my room had no plug in the sink, and half the lights didn't work.

Chain hotels are rarely exciting, but it would be nice if basic maintenance was done routinely.

Mixed experience

The day as a whole was amazing if you don't mind everything not being perfect

The staff all tried there best and were friendly but seems to lack senior management

We booked our wedding November 2011 for August 2013 and in that time we dealt with 5 different wedding planners all great but not ideal

The room was amazing great food served on time with great views
Every guest has a choice of meals

Rooms were stunning

And really good value for money

I would not hesitate in recommending getting married as long as you are willing to ignore the odd minor mistakes

Eg
The bar were the meal was being served CLOSED

Table display forgot to put out flowers

Being served cava not champagne

But please don't let this put up off they really do give you an amazing day

The young manager on the day worked hard and did a good job as did all his staff

Also dj (free) was brilliant

Hopefully the wedding planner they have now will stay an that's why I think we had the odd problem on the day

My friend and I had afternoon tea at the Copthorne hotel on Wednesday 16th October, it was brilliant. We had quayside view. Service was fantastic, thank you so much Donna. It was a livingsocialdeal which included a bottle of prosecco, great quality, 3 choices of sandwiches, the best warm scones we have ever had (thank you master Collins) with lashings of clotted cream and jam and fab chocolate fudge cake and lemon drizzle cake yummy. It was my friends birthday and we both loved the hotel, food and great service and will definitely will be going back.
