We recently stayed at the Lowry as we were going to a concert in Manchester. Although, we could not get into our room when we arrived, the lady on reception arranged for our bags to be taken to the room when it was ready. The staff on reception were all very friendly. We had lunch in the restaurant which was very nice and then we went out to do some shopping. We went to our room on our return. It was a pleasant room overlooking the canal. The hotel is in a really good location and we wandered off in the evening to a local reastaurant for dinner. The bed is very comfy and the duvet is lovely. So far so good. The next morning, a hearty breakfast before a day of intensive Christmas shopping! Oh dear, what a let down. We thought that staying in a hotel of this quality would mean that we would have waitor service for breakfast. Unfortunately, we were advised it was a buffet. What a disappointment that was. The plates were not warm and neither was any of the "hot" food. The choice was limited and all in all very unappealing. The next morning, I opted for porridge as I knew that would be brought to the table but it took so long to come that my husband had finished his breakfast by the time mine arrived. Thus was the first time that we have stayed at the Lowry (we usually stay at Great John St) and I have to say I think that is where we will be going on our next visit.

Dear guest, thank you for taking the time to leave this review about your recent stay at The Lowry Hotel. I am delighted that you enjoyed your lunch in The River Restaurant and the food provided. My team will be thrilled to hear that they added to your stay and I will make sure your kind words are passed on. I am sorry to read about your experience at breakfast. We do serve a breakfast buffet on the mornings when we are busy and we know that most guests will join us in a short period of time. However the quality of the food should always remain high and I apologise if this was not the case. Your comments will be shared with our Executive Chef who will review this matter. I do hope that when you are next in Manchester you will reconsider staying with us again. Kind regards, Peter Kienast

We decided to visit Manchester for the weekend and booked into the Lowry because of its proximity to shops and town centre. The hotel was minimalist in style, bedroom was a large, bright, modern room with a comfortable emperor sized bed and good quality bedlinen.
Everything was spotlessly clean and the staff were extremely helpful.
We booked on a bed and breakfast basis as there are so many good restaurants nearby, so I cant comment on dinner.
Breakfast was a disaster however. It was 'corporate' everything being kept warm in covered dishes and managing to taste of nothing whatsoever - cheap sausages, rubbery scrambled egg - I could go on - a complete waste of money. All in all, dreadful food for an expensive 5 star hotel.
When I visit next time I will book room only and walk the 300 yards to the little deli type shops which sell an excellent alternative.
The hotel charged £15 per night for guest parking which I thought was a bit much. Surely when a couple is paying nearly £300 per night the parking should be free?
So, would I recommend you stay there? Yes - just find somewhere else to park and eat!

Room Tip: We were in 626 which was fine in terms of being quiet, spacious and having an effective ,quiet heating/ac system. It overlooked the car park rather than the river at the rear of the hotel but that wasn't a problem as we were on the sixth floor so rooftop views / church spires were acceptable

Dear guest, thank you for taking the time to leave this review about your visit to The Lowry Hotel. I am delighted that overall you enjoyed your time at the hotel, and that our team were helpful and attentive, I will certainly share your comments. I regret that your breakfast didn't meet your expectations, I have already brought your feedback to the attention of our Executive Chef who will review this with his team. Whilst we are delighted to be able to offer parking in such close proximity to our hotel, a rarity for Manchester, we do not own the land that our car park is situated on and therefore we have to charge for the use of this feature. We do not include the price of car parking in the room rate as many of our guests do not travel to our hotel by car. We look forward to welcoming you back in the future. Kind regards, Peter Kienast

Excellent stay, large room, comfy bed and good shower. Breakfast was tasty with a wide selection available, including fresh honey. Car valet parked vehicle and when we picked up had bottles of water and mints in- nice touch. Well located to walk into the City, I will be staying here again - thank you.

Stayed here yesterday and having stayed in a number of 'top' hotels recently I have to say this was my favourite. The room was large and modern. The dressing area was a dream and the little welcome tray was a lovely touch. The thing that makes The Lowry is the staff. They are so attentive. From the moment we parked and my very heavy case was scooped from my hand to it bring placed in the taxi as I left there was nothing they wouldn't do. I loved the turn down service. It's the little things. I haven't been wowed by a U.K. hotel for a while but this one was a find and one I highly recommend.

The only improvement I would make is a tea tray in the room. I know you can request one but when you arrive after a long day and only have a short time to relax before you go out again I didn't have time to call down and I really wanted a cup of coffee. As I said a tiny point but it is one I have seen on here a few times.

I will definitely return.

It was my fault, silly me, I should have done my research a little better, the hotel is no where near the Lowry Theater and I should have checked this before assuming it was attached to that wonderful complex..I didn't and we had to taxi it each way.
As an expedia vip we were up-graded to a water view, which was ok...although for those who know Manchester and I am not one of them, this is a little span of something maybe like a canal..

The room was modern, and adequate for one night, internet wasn't free which I hate, parking was expensive, and the mini bar wasn't working...would I stay again...no, staff were friendly though, but this is a hotel for business travelers and I'm sure if your on a company paid trip then you would be quite happy...but if you are in Manchester to see a show, have dinner somewhere nice, then I would not recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: We were up-graded to a "river view" it was nice enough but nothing exceptional

Dear guest, thank you for taking the time to leave this review, I am sorry to read that you had expected our hotel to located in Salford Quays. Whilst we are only a 5 minute taxi journey from The Lowry Theatre we are in actual fact in the center of Manchester City Center. We do offer free WiFi to all of our guests, our team are always on hand to assist you in connecting to this service. We are delighted to be able to offer our guests parking opposite our main steps to the hotel as this is usually something of a rarity in a city center. To be able to have this service we have to rent the land and therefore pass on a charge to our guests. Our prices always remain competitive and we are one of the cheapest 24 hour parking services in the city. I do hope that you will have the opportunity to try us again in the future. Kind regards, Peter Kienast
