The five star elements of the hotel are there but there were some glaring faults during our 2 night stay.
We were not asked if we wanted a newspaper or morning call at check-in. Lovely room but a rather nasty stain down the side of the bed base which we didn't notice until the 2nd evening. No turn down service on our first night which meant that there were no complimentary bottles of water. My husband opted for the American pancakes for breakfast; the second one was raw in the middle. On our second afternoon I went to have a shower and when I pulled out a towel, realised that it was one from the morning which I had purposely left on the floor. However that evening there was a turn down service and the towels were replaced - even though I had put them back on the towel rail.
Great staff in the bar and restaurant. Pleasant concierge and receptionists. Such a shame that standards are slipping though.

Room tip: Try to get a river view.

Dear Guest, I am sorry to read that your stay was not perfect on this occasion. Your experience has been shared with my team and we are correcting and reviewing the faults you have brought to light. My team did tell me about your husbands pancakes, whilst I am pleased the meal was quickly replaced I do apologise for this oversight in the first place. Please do not loose faith in us, I know that your next stay will once again exceed expectations. With best regards, Peter Kienast

Brilliant service both for the wedding we were attending and the overnight stay. The food at the wedding was lovely, unusual canapés, really well cooked and tasty meal. All perfectly served. Nothing was too much trouble. The room was very big, very comfortable, air conditioned to a perfect temperature, and lots of additional touches (hotel staff personally showing us how everything worked, fresh milk in the fridge, beds turned down, bottles of water by the bed and lots more). It's not the cheapest hotel in Manchester, but well worth every penny paid. My only small gripe was having to pay 16.50 extra for overnight parking

Room tip: Better views from the canal facing rooms

Dear Guest, It is great to read about your recent stay whilst attending a wedding here. We are delighted you enjoyed your experience and very much hope you will return in the future. Unfortunately we do not own the car park situated within our grounds, therefore we must pass on a fee, although we remain very competitive with our pricing and are one of the cheapest city center hotel car parks for 24 hour parking. With best regards, Peter Kienast

I stayed for one night on a business trip.

A fantastic hotel. The staff were extremely friendly at check-in and throughout my stay.

The room was very spacious and well appointed and the breakfast was excellent. I also had dinner in the hotel restaurant and had a very nice meal with excellent service.

I would definitely stay here again.

Booked in an overnight stay last weekend with a group of colleagues, we were on the third floor, we were met by a friendly receptionist who personally showed us the room. Very clean breakfast was good and the menu varied. Roof terrace was very nice too.

Room tip: Dont upgrade to the front as it is above the bar

Dear guest, Thank you for sharing your experience. We are in an ideal location for business travellers. A 5 minute taxi journey from Manchester Piccadilly train station, 30 minute drive from Manchester Airport, and a mere 5 minute walk from the main business district in Manchester, Spinningfields. Our Terrace has been enjoying many sunny days this year, it's a great spot to unwind after a long day at work. With best regards Peter Kienast

This hotel provides a fine example of well trained staff who go that extra mile and a half to provide outstanding service. Mention to a waiter that you need directions somewhere and within two minutes you are presented with a map duly marked up.
The receptionist personally took us to the room to make sure everything was to our satisfaction, at 10.30 when we were able to check in!
The restaurant was excellent with the right blend of professional service and friendliness. The food from the set menu was very good and the wine list extensive although more than a little over-priced.
Finally the room was huge and very well appointed.

Room tip: Higher floors for a quieter sleep. Don't pay extra for a canal view as both sides are pretty much the same.
