Arrived at 650pm and tried to order a meal. Loads of empty tables so not overly busy despite it being a bank holiday. Several tables had been served food, but I was told they weren’t serving til 7 pm. I waited until 710pm and several folk had already ordered but we were all told there would be a wait of at least 30minutes for food. I gave up!! This was hopelessly disorganised. Staff not bothered at all.

The Matchstick Man is located right next to the Salford Quays metrolink tram stop. It is very handy for those out for a walk or visit to the Quays. Prices are reasonable and the hot food is tasty. There is a good choice of drinks and meals available. Did you know that this pub was opened by Johnny Briggs, the actor who played Mike Baldwin in Coronation Street? Watch out for his photograph when you visit.

Visited today for an all day breakfast after staying at Salford Quays. We were welcomed.. or should I say Un-welcomed by an arrogant bar man with black hair, a stubbly beard and wearing all black, who looked us up and down, didn’t utter a word to us apart from what do you want and walked off. Slammed our drinks down and snatched my card out of my hands.
When it came to actually ordering breakfast one of us wanted no mushrooms and tomatoes. The barman again rolled his eyes and said “that will be a problem with the chef.”
I just don’t understand why he is in this type of job if he isn’t interested in providing customers a decent level of customer service. This particular member of staff is rude to customers, talks arrogantly and seems to be concerned only about what time he finishes work.
Wouldn’t recommend unless you want to be treated like you aren’t welcome.

Always go here whenever we are in Manchester, friendly pub, good food and a great atmosphere. Only downside is that they seem to not know how to wash glasses as there are more on the bar waiting to be cleaned. One woman had to chose a wine glass which was then quickly washed out for her. Overall this did not spoil our evening, it has TV's to watch sports and great music
