I'm a great fan of the Toby Carvery in Basingstoke so we thought we'd give the Aldsrshot one a try.
What a mistake.
Greeted by, I assume, the manageress. Stains all down her top, broom in hand. Promptly showed us to a table, dropped menus on table and disappeared. Nothing said at all.
Menu is fairly basic, but it's a Carvery so be expected. However there are no drinks on the menu. Waitress turned up within 30 seconds asking for drinks order, had to go with basics like cokes and lemonades as we didn't know what else they had.
Drinks order was wrong and then the lemonades were lacking any lemon. Had to get them changed.
Then waited for nearly 15 minutes for someone to take a food order, we didn't know if we needed a ticket or anything for the Carvery.
Carvery looked like it had just been visited by the Tasmanian devil. Food bits everywhere, no peas, no broccoli, dried out roast potatoes. Asked for peas, guy disappeared, waited for 5 minutes and I got bored so had to make do without.
Plenty of gravy but all the sauces were pretty much empty and all mixed up. Very un- appetising.
Food itself was ok. Nowhere near as tasty as Basingstoke, all seemed like it had been kept warm for ages.
Floor under the table was disgusting, lots of food spills.
Overall a very poor experience and easily the worst I've had in Westgate. We won't be returning, there's plenty of other restaurants to chose from.
