My husband and I had a lovely time in this perfectly situated B & B. It's in the heart of everything in the area, yet still tucked away a bit, so that it's very quiet. Joan and Jack were delightful hosts who made sure we had everything we needed. Our room was comfortable and lovely. Breakfast was very good, with wonderful fresh berries and great conversation with Joan and other guests. This is a lovely get away spot. I wish we'd had a bit more time there, but other than that, it was perfect!

Room Tip: The Tower Room was lovely!

We stayed just one night here before a Champney's Spa break. We are two sisters on our annual get together without the family! So needed cosy comfort with time to chat.

This small and perfect spot was amazing in its attention to detail. From the booking process, the welcome, the linens, the breakfast, the cleanliness, basically there is nothing left to chance, we were totally cared for from taking of our cases from the boot until they were placed carefully back in.

Joan and jack were super, there with help and conversation when needed, but then our two ground floor rooms opened each onto the guest lounge and gave us privacy, patio, garden chairs, TV video etc, free water in the guest fridge. The rooms had good quality tea and coffee facility and even the mugs/cups were English tea garden style quality. All lovely.

It was a celebration evening for Joan, but during all her personal planning she found time to pop in with some nibbles and a glass of fizz to include us in the evening. In fact they were also at the recommended Montys restaurant in Alton on that evening. This also was a good eating out tip and we enjoyed a great meal with casual atmosphere.

It all suited us very well and we thought that we should have stayed on there, instead of going to the Spa!
Thank you from two very happy guests, we shall be coming back, and bring our other sister next time!!.

Room Tip: The first floor tower room and two ground floor rooms all take access from the guest lounge, so this is very private, with separate door and key entrance from the car park area. great for extended family to take rooms and have a central sitting room between.

We have just come back from a trip to the south-east, visiting Portsmouth Historic Dockyard and Winchester, and we chose St. Mary's Hall for a one-night stay before travelling to Winchester. What a gem of a place! We were welcomed very warmly by Jack, who helped us in with our bags and offered us a pot of tea. How nice! Then we were shown the breakfast choices and asked what time we would like breakfast. Amazing! None of this "breakfast is between 8.30 and 9" stuff that makes your heart sink - we could choose our time! Jack also booked us in for an evening meal at the local pub, The George, which was excellent. Our room, the Tower Room, was lovely, with a HUGE comfy bed and beautifully appointed en-suite with shower. Breakfast the next day was delicious with plenty of choice. It's the attention to detail that makes this b&b so special, plus the thoughtful and welcoming owners. I am not surprised that they have won so many awards. We would definitely stay here again.

A truly brilliant place, very interesting building with nice clean rooms. A very friendly welcome on arrival and Jack and Joan went beyond the call of duty to help. I was attending a wedding and had somehow managed to not pack my suit. With 50 minutes before the start of the service Joan suggested that I was the same size as Jack and that maybe they could help. Incredibly the size fit and incredibly generously Jack and Joan saved the day. To finish it off the breakfast in the morning was delicious. Even without the kind heroics this is a lovely B&B with nice clean rooms, comfy beds, plenty of character and with attentive hosts. In addition there were plenty of nice touches such as tea and coffee making facilities in the rooms, hot water bottles, robes, hairdryers etc. Will visit again and definitely recommend.

This is the third time we have stayed with Joan and Jack, each time in the Garden Suite. We always ask for it, having been bowled over by its comfort on our first visit, but you have to book early to avoid disappointment. It boasts a huge and comfortable bed, lots of storage space, plenty of seating, a fridge, a wonderful bathroom with superb shower - and some of all the last minute little knick knacks one tends to forget like cotton buds, or bigger things like umbrellas and torches.
The Hall itself is an intriguing building and breakfast is served at one end of the owners large dining/sitting room, at a big table piled with all manner of fruit and jam, most if not all, homemade. Joan then adds to that a wonderful breakfast cooked to order - and/or you help yourself to fresh fruit salad, cereal, yoghurts and fruit juice.
Should you wish to eat in your room in the evening, there is an M&S with a large food section about eight minutes walk away, and then there's the George (about six minutes walk) or Monty's Bistro (about 12 minutes), which are both great places to eat out.

Room Tip: Book early, this is a very popular place to stay.
