“Train, Food and Walk”
Reviewed 21 April 2014

You cant get much better than what is on offer at lakeside, There is a fantastic small Gauge railway that has Thomas the tank engine, The Eurostar and steam engines that you can either go coach or first class and sit in a cabin. Although the train journey around the lakes doesn't last long, it is great to get to the other side of the lakes without walking. If your looking for a bite to eat there is a cafe in the train shed that offers a variety of food as reasonable prices. The lakes are fantastic to walk around with family and friends and even pets are allowed. There are restrictions in some places of the lakes that require dogs to be on leads, however this is to protect the enjoyment of the anglers trying to catch there fish.

“Not only trains but also interesting Wildlife”
Reviewed 10 April 2014

I took my camera to see the railway's Spring Gala and to see what wildlife there was. There were plenty of trains running, and an interesting pair of Great Crested Grebes performing their mating "dance".
The organisers of all Gala days seem to want to get as many of their trains as possible out on the track and this was no exception. There were a few hold ups while the trains had to stop to get into the station half way round the track.
The birds totally ignored the trains and the people walking round their part of the lake and devoted all their attention to each other. It will be nice to see the chicks when the hatch out and travel round on mother's back.
All children will like the trains, and the older ones will also like the nature. I have never tried the catering facilities, but the toilets have always been clean when I have visited.

“Lakeside park”
Reviewed 19 March 2014

This is a very nice place, you can walk around the lakes, watching the fishermen trying there luck !!. One lake is for remote control boats and things like that etc.
Over the months of last year (1213) the footpaths have all been made up, so rain or shine it is a very nice walk around. I the summer its a great place for a picnic.

“A good hour or two with the kids”
Reviewed 19 February 2014 via mobile

This little steam miniature railway is a fun place to visit. Top place for young kids and easy fun for parents. Cost is minimal... £3 for an adult return trip. The ride lasts about five minutes to the far stop where you can get off and take a walk around the lake and visit a small playground for the kids. Every 20 minutes a return little train turn up for a return ride through the dark tunnel... Fun and scary for the little ones. Check opening times.
