Description: Opened: 3rd April 2009 as a JD Wtherspoons pub The name of this pub reflects Eastleigh's connection with England's railways. Eastleigh became a railway town in 1891, when the London & South Western Railway opened its carriage and wagon works, next to the station. The town grew rapidly. Expansion accelerated, after repair shops were added in 1903 and the locomotive works opened in 1910. The Eastleigh Works constructed the King Arthur 4-6-0 classes and all 16 Lord Nelson locomotives. The first of the series is now in the National Railway Museum, in York. When Eastleigh Station was built, in the early 1840s, modern Eastleigh did not exist. It was then the small rural hamlet of Barton. In 1839, the combined population of Barton and nearby Eastley was fewer than 80 people. The new station at Barton was named Bishopstoke, after the nearest village, and eventually renamed 'Eastleigh', in 1923. For more than 160 years, the pub on this site (formerly The Home Tavern) has been the first building seen by anyone arriving in Eastleigh.

“Good Wetherspoons. Excellent Value. Great Cask Ales”

Very family friendly, until 8pm. Laid back atmosphere, good choice of cask ales from Locale to national brands. Food typical wetherspoons fayre, look for drink+meal deals most nights.

“Cross the road and jump on a train”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 August 2013 via mobile

Well the title says it all. Do yourself a favour and follow the afvice. Place was dirty. Toilets looked like they hadn't been cleaned since xmas.No childrens facilities. Disinterested staff which resulted in having to clean our own table. Given the lateness of our visit we persevered. Tip, when something feels wrong, smells wrong and looks wrong, get out quick. Only positive thing about this visit is knowing my jd weatherspoons is 1000 better than this place. Walked out after 50 mins and cancelled card transaction.

“Not the best Wetherspoons - but handy location”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 July 2013

Stayed at the Travel Lodge next door so used The Wagon Works for drinks and breakfast. Handy for town centre but gets rowdy at weekends but does have doormen. Very good value food and drinks - especially traditional breakfast and a coffee when you get change from a five pound note. Not the best of the Wetherspoons chain - but a handy location opposite the Train Station and minutes from town centre.

“Excellent food, staff and value for money”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 May 2013 via mobile

After staying in a nearby hotel, myself and family party of 9 ate breakfast here. Great service, food ordered and arrived within 15 mins....perfect as we have 2 small children. Piping hot and delicious breakfast and drinks, all at very reasonable prices. We would highly recommend to anyone.

“Cheap and Value for Money”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 May 2013

Typical Wetherspoons but the service here was better than most. The food was the usual pub grub - served quickly and was a reasonable price. The full English for £3.19 was very good value for money.

Outside seating area provided was what made it better than the rest. Even had outdoor heaters and good lighting with potted plants and cover from bad weather

We were staying at the Travelodge next door and would not hesitate to recommend this place to other guests.
