4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 February 2014 via mobile

My husband and I have been there with his brother and wife twice back in Sept of 2013.
Love the food...good selections, portion is good too.We all tried different maincourse so we can try most during the two occassions we are there.
There is ample place to park your car...we havent been back cus we love going to different places...but certainly one that was on our list of places we are likely going back...

“Just a pub!!”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 February 2014 via mobile

Ok for a drink but wouldn't eat there again, food wasn't up to standards. Not my kind of pub restaurant.

“Just how a pub should be”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 January 2014

Second time we have stopped at this pub for a drink and lunch. The first thing you notice when you go in is that you are in a traditional pub with open fire place, friendly staff and a good choice of beers. Apparently the original pub dates back to 1645 when it was also a coaching house.

The menu offers an excellent choice and there are always lots of specials as well including the daily roasts and fresh caught fish of the day.

I had home made steak and kidney pie with veg while my other half had ham egg and chips. Both of us thought they tasted very good and the portions were far bigger than the usual. The cost was also very reasonable with drinks and food coming to £18.80 in total.

All the other tables in the pub were reserved which seemed unusual for a lunchtime midweek but I guess this is just simply because the locals no a good deal when they see one.

While we were in the lounge bar the purblic bar with bar billiards looked just as inviting.

Will now become one of our regular haunts.

“Great Christmas meal”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 December 2013

Booked a Christmas meal for 21 colleagues on Saturday 14th December 2013 had a brilliant night. The three course meal (several different combinations) was absolutely superb. It was all brought out at the same time so no one waited. The food was hot when served. One of my colleagues is a ceoliac and had no problems with the food as I had spoken Colin the landlord beforehand. My colleague thoroughly enjoyed the meal without any worries of problems that sometimes occur with this condition. The atmosphere in the pub was really good , background music playing enabling conversation to carry on. Many thanks to Colin ,Karen and staff who all helped us to have a great night.

“Excellent Pub Cuisine”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 December 2013

Went here with friends for a pre-Christmas meal. Very agreeable surroundings. There was a basic menu but with plenty of 'specials' on the board. The food was perfect and the helpings were more than adequate! Very pleasant waitress who kept us amused. Would definitely use it again.
