Stayed at the Brookfield Hotel with a large family group. The hotel staff were excellent, nothing was to much trouble and the standard of service superb. The food was excellent, we had evening meal and breakfast. The hotel has a very nice bar area and garden. Only thing that prevents a full 5 stars is that the bed wasn't the most comfortable and the the bedroom was a bit too warm.

As Chairman of an old school's reunion committee, I have used the Brookfield for the past ten years and more. They have never once let us down even remotely and have always provided a service, accommodation and food next to none.

The hotel is very clean indeed and has a nice decor to it; it is easy to find with a very good sized car park. There is also a sizeable garden to the rear of the property where guests can take drinks and enjoy the surroundings. The bar itself is pleasant and comfortable and, without being huge, is sufficiently large for most occasions (even with all of my guests in there it is easily manageable).

Where the Brookfield scores very highly is through its service and restaurant. We have 130 guests attending our reunions and my experience is that most restaurants really struggle to serve good quality food which is hot for that number of people; not so the Brookfield who, year after year, do us proud with nothing too much trouble to ensure that all dietary needs are met - even down to individual requirements. And the staff are brilliant - very friendly, cheery and accommodating all led by Amanda Thomas an excellent manageress.

There is a large dining room but food can also be taken in smaller side rooms.

Bedrooms at the hotel are good, clean and the beds are very comfortable.

The hotel's location (apart from being easy to find as already mentioned) is first class. The village of Emsworth is just two or three minutes away in the car and Portsmouth, with its many historic attractions, can be easily reached in 15 minutes.

If you are considering staying then don't hesitate, go for it - you won't regret it. We shall certainly be back for our next reunion.

I did a good review last year, and returned [school reunion] this year. The excellent standard has actually improved, with well-motivated and friendly staff, in all areas and good value. The rooms are 1st class and the food plentiful and pleasant. Recommended without hesitation.

Room Tip: Get one overlooking the nice garden.

Booked this hotel 3 days before arrival for an important business trip and leisure afterwards - so booked the dinner bed breakfast deal for two nights.. Arrived around 7pm only to be told that they couldn't find the reservation (even though it had been taken by the manager and a deposit paid) - no problem we're here now just allocate us a room - theres the problem the hotel was fully booked for that night ! We were told to have a drink on them while they tried to sort out accommodation for us. Have to admit I wasn't too pleased at the situation as I was trying to focus on the business meeting in the morning and didn't need this aggravation. But hats off to the manager Amanda - she found us accommodation 5 minutes away in a 4 star hotel The Langstone. She arranged for us to have dinner at the Brookfield and then we could go to the Langstone ( even offered a cab) for the night and return tomorrow to the Brookfield for the second night. They would also pay the nights bill at the Langstone.as there was absolutely no argument that it was their fault and that they would do everything to put it right. You don't get service like this very often!! - so we agreed to the arrangement and was so impressed by the service that we even booked an extra night on the same deal - so returned for a further two nights. We left the Langstone in the morning and I went off to my meeting and my wife went back to the Brookfield where they stored our bags and told my wife to go off and enjoy her day and that the bags would be in the room when we returned - and sure enough they were. The service we received from all the staff was superb - even one of the waitresses who was on job experience work (you would have thought that she had been working there years!) - all the young staff were so professional. The food was exceptionally good with the exception of the second night where there was a glitch with my wifes meal (hollandaise sauce that was like scrambled eggs!) - but a large party of about 40 had arrived for the weekend so the chef may have been struggling at dinner - as we had both had this dish previously and it was excellent. Breakfast was great and all cooked fresh to order and set you up for the day. Accomodation is very clean and its a strange mix of traditional late 90's and contemporary - but its very comfortable with good housekeeping. What could have been a disastrous event turned out to be extremely good value all down to the professionalism of all the staff ( a very rare event these days) who really went the extra mile - not just for us but in their dealings with other guests that we witnessed. Would not hesitate to recommend this hotel and would certainly return if in the area. This is a 3 star hotel that performs way above that raring in terms of service - The Langstone which is a 4 star could learn a lot from the Brookfiled (see seperate review)

Room Tip: Room 25 - at the end of the corridor (so no passing guest noise) on the ground floor with garden vie...

When staying off the beaten track the choice is normally a value chain or pot luck. This hotel is a bridge between these.

Good facilities, just a bit 15-years-ago. Not broken or grotty, mind, just of their age.

Good things include parking, free wifi that worked (yay), impressively soundproofed and well-sized rooms.

Food was ok, friendliness and welcome we're great.

This is very well priced, convenient for my client and a pleasant place to pass a night - I'll stay again on my next visit.

Took a group of 32 people to the hotel March 3013 and evry single person commented how good the hotel was, not just in value, but the quality of accommodation, the staff friendliness, and the food. Serving 32 people all at the same time (whilst there was also another event happening) is never easy, but the food was piping hot, beautifully cooked, and plenty of it...more than I could eat!
My room was large, really comfy bed and fluffy white towels. We're going back there again!!

Steve

Room Tip: No one complained of noise or the quality of the rooms.

I booked the Brookfield Hotel for a 1 night stay. I found a great offer online with Afternoon Tea & Scones, a 3 course dinner and a stay in a Twin Room with Full English breakfast for incredible £99. I looked very much forward to get spoilt and I must say that our expectations were fully exceeded!

We arrived unfortunately just at 6pm and couldn´t take advantage of our Tea and Scones but that was not a problem. We received a lovely welcome and instead of a Twin room, we were granted a double room - the room was very clean and lovely with a view facing the garden!

The 3 course dinner was perfect, and we had a very enjoyable late evening at the cosy hotel bar close to a fire place! The next morning, we had an excellent choice for breakfast - full English, cereal, fresh fruit, fresh croissants and much more. It was very good value for money and the staff was across the board friendly and very pleasant. They even went the extra mile when I asked in the morning if we could maybe get 2 scones for our long journey back home to Birmingham. Julie the office manager said that wasn´t a problem and after we came back from breakfast she made us aware that the Pastry chef was not in until10.30am but instead they baked us some fresh home baked chocolate chip cookies. I couldn´t believe the effort they put in, in order to satisfy their customers! Well done and thanks again for such a pleasant stay! One of the best hotels I ever stayed. I would definitely book it again. Highly recommended to everyone!
