“Wonderful food”
Reviewed 22 August 2011

We have been to 36 on the quay many times and it never fails to impress. We took my in- laws as a Birthday treat. The Restaurant was busy for a Lunchtime . There is a small bar area and also a little courtyard if you want pre or post dinner drinks. The foods is extremley good and each time we go the menu has been updated. The freindly staff which includes one of the owners are always happy to help and nothing seems too much trouble.
We recently went to Raymond Blanc's Le Manoir, but the food at 36 was by far more exciting. ..............sorry Raymond !
Pre dinner drinks, 3 courses with2 bottles of wine and after dinner drinks £100 pp

“Lovely restaurant in a great location”
Reviewed 21 August 2011

This was our second visit here and thought the food this time was much better than when we were here last a couple of years ago, the hi-lights were a superb main of seabass and the desserts were fantastic.Surprised about comments of poor service as we had no problems even though it was a busy friday evening.
Overall thought this was a lovely, informal restaurant with great food and views over harbour.

“Outstanding food, excellent service”
Reviewed 15 August 2011

This was the 2nd time we have visited this restaurant, and on both occasions found the food exceptionally good, and the service efficient and friendly, whilst also being relaxed, in keeping with the seaside environment.

“average not what I expected from a * restaurant”
Reviewed 27 July 2011

We had heard so much about how good this restaurant was, and really wanted to try it. We took our daughter here for a special meal, must admit the setting is wonderful and the place was lovely. However was disappointed with the service.Felt that we were being rushed and yet when the food came out we had to wait quite a while as they brought each of our meals singly and then had to wait while for our daughter's starter which they seem to have forgot. We all also found all the food very very saltly which really overpowered the taste and left us all very thirsty. However the desserts were worth it. Overall I don't think it was worth the expense of the meal, and would not go back

“not up to scratch!”
Reviewed 24 July 2011

Both myself and my fiance have eaten at many different michelin starred restaurants but we found 36 on the quay very disappointing. It has got great potential to be amazing, which such amazing views of the harbour; however:

Food was nice, but nothing 'wow' or special about it compared to other places we have eaten.

Staff are polite, but it seemed like we were being told off by the manageress when we arrived 10 minutes early for our table! we were offered drinks, but had a 30 minute wait before we were given a menu to look at, and then were told they had sold out of 1 of the starters!
Also there was no one to offer help in ordering wine, and with such an extensive wine list it would have been nice to try something different, but with no guidance we felt a bit lost and stuck to what we knew.

This restaurant seems to think it is doing us a favour by letting you eat there and dont seem interested in returning customers!
