“One night stay with our pooch”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 March 2014

My partner, myself and our dog very much enjoyed our stay. The staff and punters were very welcoming, even when our 11 month dog Tink got in everyones way in the bar/restaurant.

The meal in the evening did the job and breakfast helped us through the day.

Unfortunately the hotel is situated on a very busy road which is a slight nuisance but we will still be planning to stay in the future.

Overall it was a good experience. The room was clean and bed comfortable. The heat was adjustable which made all the difference. The windows opened which helped with air flow but not too much with the noise of the busy street and the wind. But had a good nights sleep and a good breakfast the next day which was included in the price.

I booked a table here for Valentines Night. It was awful weather but as soon as we arrived we were greeted so warmly. The log fire was burning and the atmosphere was friendly. We had a drink and were shown to our table. The menu was varied and we opted for the Tournados Rossini, something we hadnt had for years. It was sooooooo tasty and accompanied by various potatoes and veg on a lazy suzy (another thing we hadnt seen for years). We enjoyed our meal and when we paid our bill there was a free chocolate fountain on the bar which we also enjoyed! It was such a lovely night. It was so nice to find a place that has not been turned into a trendy bar/contempary restaurant. I did not find it dated. more nostalgic. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening and will definately recommend it. Thank you to all at the Roundabout Hotel for making our night so special.

We met friends here for drinks and dinner and this pub/hotel. Lovely bar area with log fire, used by locals and atmospheric. Good friendly service.Dining area is dated however, and food pretty grim. The reason? Too many choices! If the menu is too long this triggers a warning. Feedback: you cannot be good at everything; better to have a short menu and excel! .From the outside the building gives a poor impression. This was once an attractive red brick period building, but ruined by a fool who has had the brickwork painted black and white! Legalised vandalism. .

We booked the Roundabout Hotel for Christmas day with family and had the most terrible food you could imagine ! £45 per head ! Wouldn't of been happy to pay £10 to be honest! Frozen vegetables, pre sliced meat and gravy with a skin on it! Will not be returning here! Christmas day was spoilt !

I stayed here against advice! Had a super time too! My room was warm and comfy,,,just what I needed after a business day, Staff had so much enthusiasm and kindness. I can honestly say I will be back, Happy New Year.

Room Tip: Talk to reception. They will be very helpful.

I used to live in Gosport, so I remember the Roundabout Hotel from decades of travelling past it on my way somewhere. However, I now live elsewhere but attending a family reunion at the Cams Mill restaurant (see separate review) so there was the need for local accomodation for an overnight stay and this place was the perfect location. Old buildings being run as hotels are notoriously variable in their quality. Rooms are often drafty, cramped, sometimes grubby and have terrible WiFi coverage. With exception of cramped these do not apply to the Roundabout Hotel. We opted for the King Room, which gave us a larger bed, at the expense of the bathroom, which was so small I think you could injure yourself just by turning around. Every other aspect of the room was fine, especially the cleanliness of the bedding. It is an old building so it isn't ever going to be ultra modern, but the owners work hard to provide a good service. We didn't eat there other than breakfast, which was tasty and plentiful.

Room Tip: We had room 14 which was at the back of the hotel, so nice and quiet.
