Party of twenty -Sunday Lunch. Feb 2013. Very warm welcome. Freezing day, v warm interior. Staff attentive, quiet efficient manner. Hot plates, fast service, well cooked vegetables. Good choices. Delighted with our choice. Will book again. Honoring a local racing dinghy builder jack Chippendale. Important event.

So I know that I can't expect much but I have booked a family room and am paying £70 a night for me and my family. So on the plus side the room is big, but that is all I can say it has going for it. The room smells like an ashtray and is above the pub! Good location for a family room - I think not. I've just spent the evening building some Lego with my son on the carpet and can safely say I now need to wash my clothes. The hotel was converted in the 70's and this room hasn't been touched since. I'm here for two nights and can't stand it and I've only been here for an hour!!!!

Stay here as a last resort if you don't mind the smell of smoke, the noise from the pub below and in a shabby and not chic room. You have been warned.

To be honest just writing this review is making me feel rather poorly.

Went for Sunday Lunch as a treat from the wife's father who was over from spain.

knew it was a mistake as soon as we walked in. Dirty floors and tables.

Food was virtually inedible.

Roast from a sort of carvery were very poor cuts of meat severely overcooked. The prawn cocktail starter was watery with dirty lettuce. The stuffed mushrooms had been stuffed with some sort of pate which was foul and turned my stomach.

However the worst was to come. Ordered Eton mess. Very cheap shop bought meringue in spray cream ( yes spray cream!!!!) and tinned fruit!!! This in an area renowned for its strawberries and where there is a PYO fruit field within walking distnce of the hotel.

Not an experience I want to repeat
