“Meal out with the Family”
Reviewed 11 March 2014

Food is good. Kids love the Whitebait, the tartare sauce is wonderful. The portion size for our youngest (9) was adequate, staff were friendly and helpful. Ales are wonderfully kept and sourced nationally. Always a new one to try.

“Good food but poor service”
Reviewed 10 March 2014

I brought a party, on the Community Action Tea and Tiffin trip, for lunch at the Crofton. It took an age before they came to the table to take orders - all the party are partially disabled (two with sight problems and all with mobility difficulty). It became clear that the bar staff expected them to order at the bar and took a while to get round to taking the order at the table.
The food was good although two people were missed from the order and were not served until much later than the rest.
Apparently the bar staff did not realise it was a party with mobility issues (even though when we came in a customer came to help whilst I was operating the accessible lift on the bus).

“Always reliable”
Reviewed 2 February 2014

Home-cooked food, not pretentious, good value for money and served by friendly and welcoming staff. If you choose a pie it's only a puff pastry topping - not a 'top and bottom pie' but it's still very nice

“Tables too Close”
Reviewed 12 January 2014 via mobile

We visited on a Saturday evening, our reserved table was only six inches from the next table! The tables in the fairly new extension were laid out very close to each other. It reminded me of a works canteen.

The food and service were both excellent.

“Efficient Staff, good Ales and food and 'Dogs accepted'”
Reviewed 2 January 2014

Well laid out the Main bar area has wipe clean floor, the dogs are allowed in that area, but rightly so, you cannot take them over to the carpeted Lounge Bar and Restaurant side. We have dogs and this is great as everyone knows the boundary. Have always found the food good and the ales 'well kept'. We have followed the Landlord around, he brought The Osborne View in Hillhead up to a very high standard many years ago then moved away to The Kings Arms at Hampton Court and we tried there and very good again for Hall & Woodhouse, then he acquired The Crofton and brought the standard up about 10 years ago and it seems to remain good everytime we visit.
