“Very disappointing”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 September 2013

We booked a night here whilst visiting relatives. I didn't like it at all. Very dark and dismal. Room wasn't spotlessly clean - we stayed in the more expensive top deck. Very poor for the price. We didn't book breakfast - thank goodness. When we checked out there was a queue of at least 20 people waiting at the dining area to be seated. I'd have been furious about that. I didn't like the casual way the staff were dressed. No way of knowing who was who. The foreign girl on reception was far too chatty for us, even intrusive, asking why we were visiting, where we were from, how long are we here for...it just went on and on......it wasn't necessary. I won't stay here again.

The hotel is nice for business stay especially if one is going to visit the companies nearby. The hotel is clean. The room are somewhat large. The lobby is welcoming. It is a little pricier. Breakfast was good but not exceptional.

Room Tip: Get a room on the 4th floor

1 night get away trip, comfortable room, great Starbucks amenities. Pool is great and apart from the extremely loud music coming from the bar the dinner in the restaurant was lovely.

breakfast however was below poor. tables were dirty, massive queues paid extra for breakfast but no one was even checking, cutlery was missing as was milk on the tables.

Room Tip: go for an upper deck room, higher floor and better quality rooms.

During short business trip to Farnborough, spent single evening in there. Overall, clean and quiet lobby/reception area, complete with a Starbucks and bar (probably the only one open till late hours in the entire neighborhood). Rooms are decorated in an odd style, sort of modern and minimalist, but furniture showing signs of waring off. Biggest issue: there was no furniture or wardrobe space to place my suitcase and open it. The room is not short of space for a small stool either... Breakfast was standard (British). Didn't have time to use other amenities ... The lately rate was rather high, so overall I don't think it was worth such high bill.

Stayed here for 2 nights. Room fairly small, and obviously designed by someone who didn't take the time to sit on the bed to try using the reading lamps, or turn on the artful lighting to try to look at anything! Also frustrating that if you turned the bathroom light on, the stylish slatted effect on the window meant the bed was illuminated! The room was also incredibly dusty - the shelf above the bed was thick with it,& the blinds on the windows likewise. Breakfast was barely warm, with undercooked bacon, an impossible toaster,& impractical serving implements. Overall, significantly underwhelmed by our stay, and won't be rushing back.

Stayed recently with my partner in one of the premium 'upper deck' rooms - truly wonderful. Full SkyTV package including movies, Starbucks coffee provided in the room, even a Bose Sound Dock for playing a few tunes on (although you'll need your lightning adapter to use the iPhone 5 in it). Super soft comfy pillows, awesome snuggly duvet... I really can't fault the room at all.

Booked in for dinner in the chop house downstairs, I've dined in here before, and the food is always superb. Again, we weren't let down - the food was fantastic, wonderfully cooked and presented. We had booked in on the 2 for £29 deal too, which makes it epic value. Unfortunately we were late sitting down for dinner, and was told the 2 for £29 had ended at 7.30 (we sat down at 7.50), so we had the full menu.

We were disappointed with our stay. We had travelled from London to have a relaxing break and had our first problem on the first night, the air conditioning was not working and it was too hot to sleep. There is a small window which opens which did nothing, when we reported the issue someone brought us up a fan which had too little power to cool down a mouse. We were told the next morning some of the rooms were known to have issues with the aircon and could not be moved as they were quite full and offered money off our bill. The problem we were there for a special occasion and would rather not have the money and have the stay we planned including a good nights sleep or we could have just stayed at home!!

The following evening our TV stopped working. This was frustrating as we had paid extra to upgrade to the Upper Deck package which included movies. We had our popcorn, ready to veg out and we couldn’t watch a movie. Someone did come and have a look again, he said he would see if we could get another card for sky box but we never saw him again. When we let the reception know the next morning upon check out, they said they would check with the previous nights staff and contact us. Of course they did not, nor have they responded to my emails.

They provide a voucher booklet to mask a false economy, for example there is a voucher for BOGOF coffee at the starbucks, however the prices are sustainably more to start with (almost double if I recall correctly latte and macchiato were £3.99). Eat and drink outside the hotel, much cheaper.

The pool and other facilities were great, clean, note the pool is open to not just guests and was full of children.

Breakfast – there was a limited choice for veggies, however the pastries I had were fresh and delicious.

I will not be returning.

Room Tip: Don't pay to stay on the Upperdeck, scam!
