I purchased a voucher from Travelzoo for 2. It included free access to the gym, the pool, sauna and steam room, plus a 2 course lunch with a glass of wine. This cost just £25 for both of us. The hotel staff could not have been nicer, treating us with courtesy and care. We joined in with an aquarobics class, spent some time in the really well equipped gym, which had loads of space and more than enough kit for everyone. The pool was great and the lunch was excellent. Really well done to everyone.

The hotel is conveniently located for the town centre and is only about 10 minutes from the Main Line station. It is also convenient for the Five exhibition hall and the FAST museum.

We have stayed at this hotel several times over the years. We even stayed during the first week of its operation. During its "short life" it has been through a couple of name changes and during each visit the place has become steadily worse in room quality and quality of service. It is almost like the DeVere chain has run out of cash !
The hotel is now more like a Leisure Centre with a 90 room hotel attached, than the other way around.

The reception area has a Starbucks, but forget about having a leisurely cup of coffee there; as it will be filled with the visitors to the health centre.

The similar things applies to the Victory Bar. It appears to be the local watering hole for the area rather than being a guest facility.

All of the rooms are painted a mushroom shade, are of a reasonable size. It should be noted that rooms at the front of the hotel, directly above the reception are approximately 4 feet or so longer. All have walled mounted LCD TV's. A work desk with decent lighting, the rooms in general have subdued lighting. The wall furthest from the door is a full double glazed window, full length black venetian blinds and black out curtains. All rooms have air conditioning. The TV channel availability is extremely poor, they don't even offer all of the Freeview channels !

I booked 2 rooms in this hotel. We arrived a little early and only one room was available (no problem). The two single beds were ok, but becoming slightly tired with age. There was no privacy from the outside as the blinds were missing.

On arriving back to the hotel later in the afternoon our second room (Rm 319) was ready. We tried the beds for support, only to find that when I tried to lay on one bed I rolled off. On investigating this phenomenon by removing the sheets we discovered that the mattress had completely collapsed on one side. We checked the other single bed and it was suffering from the same problem.
We reported this to reception and they arranged a change of room and an upgrade. The Duty Manager was also called and she checked the condition of the beds and stated "obviously these beds have been worn out for some time and the problem should have been raised with management by the housemaids". The Duty Manager also stated that also arrange a form of compensation in the hotel restaurant.

The "Upper Deck" rooms. These are on the 4th floor. We had considered booking these up for this trip, but after previous experience of this type of room at other hotels in the chain, deemed it not worth the money. Starbucks instant coffee (with added coffee grouts), a couple of" run of the mill toiletries" and access to Sky doesn't justify the price.
After trying to sleep the night in the upgraded room (Rm 417), we discovered that rooms mattress was also far from new. In addition, the venetian blinds did not work and we put up with subdued lighting during daylight hours.

The evening meal in the restaurant. We were taken to our table before 7pm and placed our order by 7.05pm. In enough time we were told to be entitled to a cheaper priced 3 course meal; and our first round of drinks were on the house due to the room problem.
Drinks, starters and main meals arrived ok. But after 20 minutes of waiting for the desert we were told by our waitress that the kitchen is short staffed (nb. the restaurant used the same excuse on a previous visit). After 40 minutes I asked the restaurant manager if it was normal to wait that time. In under 5 minutes the desserts were on the table.
The food - I ordered a steak and it was good. The rest of my family ordered chicken and cider pie. What they got was Chicken, Bacon and 50% Mushroom pie.
We had no problems with those ingredients, but you can imagine the problems some guests would have. The accompanying vegetables on the other hand were dried out and flavourless. The desserts were terrible (Banana Toffee Eton mess and Chocolate Moouse). The "Mess" was made up of indeterminate ingredients and the moouse was so thick it was more like a truffle (which may have been due to its age).
We were having a good old chat during the dinner, but the total dining time was 2 hours and 40 minutes. When we asked for the bill, it appeared in under a minute and surprise, surprise was wrong by £38. It then took the manager a further 10 minutes to rectify the problem.

As for the breakfast. A good selection, it is only a pity that it wasn't cared for when on display. The scrambled egg was move like dried cut up pieces of omelette and the fried eggs were dried up bullets. I also don't know what hotels do with bacon now; but that was displayed as clumped up slices covered in white emulsified fat.

We will not stay in this hotel again and will think twice about the Village chain in general. Did we complain, no, we were just too darn knackered.

Room Tip: If you have to stay here, then the 3rd floor in a room at the front above reception. They are larger...

Went to The Village in Farnborough for a work Christmas do in December 2013.
This was a dreadful experience and wildly overpriced for what it was.
The cost was around 40 pounds per head.
We were seated at 8pm and and packed in like Sardines. Almost to the point of Claustrophobia.
The food didn't arrive until around 9.30. This was especially poor, considering the food choices were provided weeks in Advance. The plates were ridiculously hot and the food was cold. I went for roast Turkey which was average at best. The potatoes were barely cooked. The food quality was very poor and i wouldn't even feed the leftovers to a dog.
A replacement meal was offered, but considering the same complaint came from every member of our party even with a selection of meals, this was hardly any compensation.
The DJ had started before dessert was served. Dessert was also very poor.
When a complaint was lodged by the head of our party, the following day, it was poorly received and the excuse given for no compensation was one of our group was rowdy at the end of the night.
Not only would i not recommend this venue for a christmas party, but I would avoid at all costs.
Very poor service on the day and no attempt to address a genuine complaint.
Abysmal!!!!

Great hotel up to usual Village standards about 10 mins from Farnborough Main station. Usual high standard rooms offering seating and wardrobe space as well as IPod dock and complimentary wi-fi. Good range and quality of food in the restaurant supplemented by good efficient service by young lady who was great. Breakfast usual buffet choice, and no problems

Room Tip: All good, but rooms facing the front are prone to traffic noise

Visited recently for the first time using a travel zoo voucher £49 for four of us, the price included all day use of the spa, swimming pool, gym, sauna, steam room, 2 course meal and a drink for each of us.
We had our meal and although some of our group are fussy eaters, the staff were very helpful in ensuring they could provide us with a suitable meal, we had a drink and a few games of pool in the pub area which again was clean and inviting with helpful staff.

All staff were very friendly and helpful, the facilities were clean and tidy, I would however advise visitors to take extra care when using the swimming pool as the hard standing surface around the pool gets extremely slippery- the staff are well aware of this and constantly mopping the area.

Although we did not actually stay overnight (the rating below for rooms I clicked on by mistake but saying that each area of the de vere that we ventured into I felt was worth the stars), I would consider this in the future as we were very impressed.

Stayed at the hotel for 1 night and overall not very pleased. We stayed in a room on the 1st floor, and it was as though the room had not even been cleaned. The side board to the bed was stained and sticky, and the shelf above the bed was covered in dust. The bed had also been made with a sheet that did not fit properly and left some of the mistress exposed. In the bathroom the toilet seat was also extremely stained.

We went for lunch in the ale house which was ok. I ordered a tuna sandwich and it arrived in bread that tasted stale and was almost half frozen. We then went for dinner in the chop house and the service was appalling. Despite having a reservation it took almost 15 minutes upon arrival for someone to even acknowledge our presence. Once seated, we ordered drinks which took over 20 minutes to arrive, they didn't even bring us water during this time. We also ordered a bottle of white wine to go with our dinner, which arrived when we had already been served our starters. The waiter also just placed the bottle on the table and didn't offer an ice bucket, so had to wait a further 20 minutes to receive this. After finishing our meal no one came to give us the bill, and about half an hour later we gave up and went to the bar to ask for it. Service really not good at all, and when my partner tried to give feedback to the manager he seemed to get annoyed and was very defensive - not a good impression was left.

We stayed on a friends and family rate and I do not think it was even worth that in all honesty.

We booked a day out at the hotel via Travelzoo so we didn't actually stay overnight, however we will at somepoint as it was marvellous.

We paid £49 for the day for 4 people, that included lunch and use of all health spa, gym, pool etc. Excellent value.

Arrived and no trouble with Travelzoo voucher, straight in the lovely pool.
Lovely steam room and sauna and huge gym area with loads of facilities.
Staff were really nice and friendly and very helpful.

Lunch was served in the Victory Chop Ale restaurant, good service and good food, nothing was too much trouble for the staff in the restaurant.

They also have a really 'pub' like bar area, so much nicer that most hotels and a pool table.
Had a nice drink and a game of pool.

If i had to pushed to say something negative it would be how slippery the floors are in the changing rooms and swimming pool area when wet, if you have young children take extra care, we saw several go over. The staff were obviously aware of the problem and spent lots of time mopping up, which was also good to see. ( i.e the direct action taken by them).
