“Superb forest location, overpriced food”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 August 2014

The restaurant is located right in the forest, delightful - the food not so special and overpriced.

We were disappointed with the food - the menus are highly descriptive but the food quite plain - overall a disappointing visit where we had average food which did not meet the hyperbole of the flowery description which we therefore felt was overpriced.

“Disappointed”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 August 2014 via mobile

The pub is in a lovely setting and we had a very friendly welcome. It was quite busy and I was expecting a quality meal.
I had a stuffed burger which was well presented, however it was tasteless and over priced in my opinion. My husband had the Kobe burger which he said was good.
We both had a burger and chips and 1 drink each and the bill was £40.
If the food had been outstanding I wouldn't mind the price but I wasn't impressed and won't be back.

“Nice setting, average food”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 July 2014 via mobile

I visited this pub on a Wednesday afternoon as my parents go quite often and always rave about it.

The weather was great so sat in the lovely garden. My boyfriend and I ordered a full rack of ribs and a club sandwich.

The ribs were lovely and you do get a lot of them - so this one is definitely for those with a big appetite. The dish came with chunky chips which were also nice.

The club sandwich however I didn't really like. Ok if you like yours with a 'twist' but it's not a classic club. It was served on a ciabatta roll with cheese. So more like a chicken and bacon sandwich rather than a club. Not a problem - but don't call it a club sandwich.

Also - ordered a Swedish bottle of cider which was just under £6 - absolutely shocking prices.

For those reasons, I wouldn't go back in a hurry. I think the place is ok for a drink, the setting is nice and the staff were great - very friendly. The food though is pretty average.

Stopped for a pint on very hot day. Sat outside and saw through the trees some of the Red Arrows display at nearby Farnborough.
Excellent pint of Cornish pilsener, refreshling cold, shame I was driving to enjoy more !!
