“Good menu and reasonably priced wine”
Reviewed 15 May 2013

Quite a varied menu for a pub styled dining room with a 2 for £9.95 mains option, sevice however was somewhat slow and this was due to a lack of serving staff even with the reception staff helpng out, wouldn't want to wait a busy night.

“I worried about my stomach.”
Reviewed 28 February 2013

General feeling was a dirty, neglected hotel with kitchens to match. Never again. I only ordered a main course as the restaurant killed my appetite. The steak was OK but everything else was appalling. I was not at ease eating anything in that establishment.

“Bear Hotel, Havant”
Reviewed 15 February 2013

Went to the Bear Hotel as we decided to try somewhere different for dinner. The hotel itself is very shabby so we were disappointed as soon as we walked in. Ordered some wine which was eventually dumped on the table, not even opened by the waitress let alone poured. We waited about another fifteen minutes and no-one returned to take our order. Needless to say we left, leaving the wine unopened on the table. Will not be visiting again.

“Standard stuff”
Reviewed 18 January 2013

Microwaved, pre prepared and frozen stuff but plentiful and acceptable. Avoid the eggs Benedict at breakfast as they were foul (excuse pun but being polite). Curry night was pretty good and great value.

“New years eve rip off!”
Reviewed 3 January 2013

New Years eve at the Bear Hotel, £45 per head, run out of real ale by 9.30. Sat in a dreary room, no decorations not a balloon in sight. Fed bland vegetables in a bland room. Have had better school dinners. Really enjoyed the inch size bite of braised steak and a gallon of gravy. Had to endure a cd of christmas songs throughout dinner ( thought christmas was a week ago). Cheese platter was outstanding but closely followed by a "selection" of desserts from Iceland !! Staff looked miserable as sin, had to ask 3 times for a jug of water obviously a request too far. The delight of a visit to the toilet put the final nail in the coffin. Tap broken off on first sink and second sprayed water over the sink like a mini sunami and sprayed the front of my dress. Our party of 9 people walked out at 9.30. On departure we asked to speak to the manager to be told he wasnt available for an hour as he was having a bath!!!
