Staff were friendly and attentive. Room was pleasant enough; bed was comfortable and clean and LCD tv provided. Bathroom and corridors looking a little dated and could do with an upgrade which almost made me score 3. I'm putting 4 as the breakfast was excellent and the young girl and gent who served it were very pleasant. I stayed on business and would use again.

One night stay on way to Guilford. Good location. Room basic but for price paid we weren't expecting much. We didn't have a kettle in the room which was purely an oversight so no big deal. Room we had there was a lot of fan noise so didn't sleep much. Staff very friendly and at breakfast there was a good choice to choose from which was cooked and presented well.

Room Tip: I had a room over looking reception which had bad fan noise.

There is nothing exceptional about this hotel but it deserves it's excellent rating because it ticks all the boxes. The room is typically small but clean and well equipped. The staff friendly and welcoming. The breakfast very enjoyable and well cooked. It is extremely good value for money. The following week we paid twice this price in Yorkshire for half the enjoyment! We stayed there as part of a wedding party with the event elsewhere but the Hotel was very accommodating in letting us check in before noon so we could get keys for our expected late return.

We chose the Raven because of it's location at the rail station in Hook. Trains run back into London Waterloo every half hour. You can stay here for a fraction of the price you would in London and their included full English breakfast is an added benefit. The rooms are clean and attractive. The staff is friendly and helpful. The Raven is a hidden gem and makes the London area much more affordable.

Been here a few times on business over the years, always an ok place to stay at. Had a bit of a revamp recently, change of staff, menu much improved, room rates very variable. Don't expect too much but alright for the price.

Even though I think the Raven is a "getaway" or business hotel, we stayed from August 2-11 so we were there probably longer than the average guest. Our room was large, clean and well equipped. The bed was really comfortable and it was lovely to have an actual bathtub (with a shower), as most hotels nowadays only have a small shower. The staff were excellent, friendly, helpful, social, etc. I was able to get a roast dinner to take out for my mum (who is housebound) - that was very much appreciated. (We live in the US where you can take out anything, but I know in the UK it's not usually done). There are lots of stairs, but the receptionist helped me with my suitcase so it wasn't an issue. Even though our room looked out onto a pretty busy street we weren't bothered at all by any noise and slept soundly. The location is excellent - walking distance to train station, 15 minutes drive to Basingstoke. The food was plentiful and delicious, and the included breakfast is excellent with many choices. The value is outstanding and well worth every penny. The manager's do have a large German Shepard who is a big softie!! We did NOT hear her bark or see her jump during our entire stay. She is probably the most mellow and friendly dog I've met (and I've been around hundreds of dogs). I did read complaints about her being intimidating - NOTE - this is a DOG FRIENDLY hotel, so if you don't like dogs or are terrified by them, stay elsewhere. I also read a comment that there's no shampoo etc. in the room. The toiletries provided are soap and a combination bodywash/shampoo, so there is ample supplies. There are coffee/tea/biscuits in the room every day. My husband and I will definitely stay at the Raven again on our next visit to the UK.

Great location just off the motorway & next to the train station, although you really wouldn't know it. Attractive building, cleverly extended. Very warm, friendly welcome upon arrival. Had booked a basic single room for 1 night at a bargain price of £25, great sized room, huge, slightly dated, bathroom with powerful shower, extremely clean and well decorated room kept at very comfortable temperature. Had a great night's sleep. We ate in the restaurant, the service was a little familiar and slow as there were only x2 young waitresses on duty but it suited our needs, the food was really good with a great choice. We had breakfast the next morning which offered an amazing choice for every taste. Again, excellent customer service from reception who let me leave my car in their car park whilst I explored the pretty village of Hook which has plenty to offer. Would thoroughly recommend this hotel.
