“A really nice stay”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 October 2013

A really lovely welcome at reception and we were impressed with the cleanliness of the bedroom and bathroom. We were quite late booking so had the twin room and we did find the beds rather narrow, however the bedding was lovely. We ate in the restaurant in the evening with lovely waiting staff. We ate from the fixed menu at £9.95 for 3 courses which was incredible value. I was also impressed that they swapped items for me that I could not eat for health reasons. After the meal we enjoyed the live music in the bar.
This is a nice mix of hotel and a local pub.

We stayed for two nights (19th & 20th October). On the Saturday we were attending a concert at The Anvil in Basingstoke, which was a drive of little over 10 minutes. We had a superior room which was to a very good standard, very clean and with a comfortable king size bed. The staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was excellent but Sunday morning was busy and there was a delay bringing our cooked breakfasts after ordering. The Sunday evening menu had a selection of roasts but it was a little disappointing that none were available, we were told that it was because they had been very busy during lunchtime. Overall, an enjoyable stay and good value.

My husband and I stayed at this hotel for two nights on the 18 and 20 October and we couldn't fault this accommodation. The bed was extremely comfortable with clean white linen and the room had everything we needed, including a hairdryer. The breakfast too was substantial with a good choice of fruit, cereal, fruit juices and a menu consisting of several choices including a substantial English breakfast, salmon and scrambled eggs to name but a few. This is not the Ritz but a very good priced accommodation and I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again or to recommend it.

We have stayed here on a few occasions and always had a superb time. We laugh because they are the most comfortable beds ever and always sleep well - even after copious amounts of hospitality in the bar. The Breakfasts are 2nd to none and you never ever leave hungry. They have everything you could possibly think of on their buffet with full cooked or other items following on the hot list. Since the new management has taken over - earlier this year - there is a distinct difference to the place. a much more homely and welcoming feel with their daughter- who works there always on hand to help. They have also made this a dog friendly place which makes it even more welcoming. The new arrival of " noodles" their 10 week old spaniel is a major brucie bonus and "Sadie" the friendly daft as a brush Alsatian was on hand for me to have a cuddle. We have just booked to go again at the end of November - Can't Wait. Don't hesitate to contact me if yo0u want any more info on this place as will be happy to oblige. But don't just take my word for it - Go and try

Room Tip: superior rooms bigger and bigger beds but I find I can't see t.v so I just go for standard as th...

OK wrote a review on this place a little while ago and it was not the best, but have stayed there again in the last week as it was the only place I could get in and everything was good. The room as last time was clean and comfortable but the service was a lot better. The food was typical pub grub but the breakfast and staff were excellent.

Its cheap and I guess sometimes cheerful. The rooms were not great (and we had a big party so I saw a few) and in the style of an aged country house, but at £50 per night can’t complain. And they were clean (aside from a touch of mould in the bathroom)

Service was pretty good

Dinner was just about ok – again you get what you pay for.

Breakfast was actually very good for the money.

Room Tip: one away from the bar door I guess (less banging around)

myself and my partner stayed here on friday night, after working in the industry for 20 years i always find myself looking to find faults but I was plesantly suprised, the food was lovely for dinner reasonably priced and the bar was furnished to a very nice standard. The room was also very nice although a touch of mould in the bathroom, breakfast was also very nice and the staff where very attenative i would like to speacially mention the assitant manger Kyrie Baker who i couldnt belive was the assitant manager since ive never heard of a general manager having a friday night off she had a very organised team both front and back of house if we are in the area again we shall definatly be staying again a very nice night and very reasonably priced.
Well done to all the staff and thank you.
