Raven Hotel was a pleasant surprise for me. I was on my way to Isle of Wight after visiting Oxford and the Raven Hotel was a stopover for me. I had a bit of a tough time to locate the hotel because my GPS took me to a secluded Station Rd. in the next town rather than the one where the Raven is situated. I called up the reception for direction and the lady on the phone was quite helpful.
On reaching the place, I found the Raven to be a very nice, cozy, old style inn. One of the very few I found around England. Although I must warn that the place is a bit of a maze - so one needs to climb a few flights of steps and then find a way through few alleys. The room was clean and spacious with good lighting. Everything is a little creaky around the edges but that added to the oldish inn feeling.
The breakfast was quite nice.It was snowing heavily in the morning and it looked fantastic from the inside. I thought the staff could be a bit more proactive at the breakfast area.
All in all we had a pleasant experience.More
