Stayed here for a friends wedding and we thought it was excellent! The hosts are very friendly and nothing seemed to be too much hassle.
The room was ideal and the bed was very comfy!
I would highly recommend this house and would happily go back for the delicous breakfast!

We stayed at this guest house for one night (had a wedding to attend). When I booked the guy on the phone was really polite friendly and helpful. We arrived later than expected and we were shown to our rooms promptly and given local taxi numbers. The room was clean (we had a double) and well presented with everything you would expect, tea coffee, water, shampoo, shower gel etc. Breakfast was lovely, we had a full english, they had a good range of cereals and drinks too. The couple that run this guest house are fantastic. Ive never written a review before but thought I should for these guys as they were so helpful. Good value for money!

Over the past year we have had several overnight stays at this B and B. As frequent visitors to the area we have also stayed in the past in one of the large big name hotels in nearby Basingstoke. In terms of value for money Oaklea compares extremely well with the larger name hotels. It is comfortable, clean, you are made very welcome there, breakfasts are good, there is off road parking, Sky in the main lounge, and very friendly proprietors – Sue and Steve - who look after their guests very well. The location is good – a good range of local shops in Hook and the M3 is only a couple of minutes drive away .We much prefer staying in Oaklea to the big characterless hotels down the road and we are happy to recommend it.

I stayed here for 2 nights with a colleague. It had been reccommended by others at work.
We paid £60 a night for Bed & Breakfast, which we thought was good value for money. We received a very warm welcome from the owners, who showed us around the public areas and took our bags to our rooms. (Nice living room with sattellite TV, licence bar as well!!) Parking is available outside the front, and the house itself is warm, inviting and clean. The rooms were in excellent condition - all rooms have ensuite, TV, coffee making facilities and good storage space for those who are staying for the week.
Nice little touches such as the bottle of water and biscuits made it feel more like a cosy hotel than a B & B. Breakfast was excellent - good choice of cereal / yoghurt and a full cooked breakfast. This was served quickly and efficiently, ideal for those of you who need to be off soon after getting up! Our rooms were right at the very top of the house (15 rooms in all), and the only negative aspect was that they were warm at night! The velux window just didn't generate enough cold air! All in all, great place and will using there again for future business trips.

As a business traveler attending a course at the HP training center at Highfield Park, I wanted somwhere close by, but with decent ammenities. I originally booked to stay at the Highfield Park De Vere hotel, but felt that 5 miles from anything or anywhere was too much to cope with for a week.

Instead, I looked around in the local (5 miles away) village of Hook, just off the M3. The Oaklea seemed to be the best choice for me, and as it's only 5 minutes walk from the local train station, proved to be an excellent option.

The hotel itself has around 11 rooms, and mine was very nicely laid out, with a decent shower, double bed, the usual TV, but no SKY channels.

Breakfast was a choice of Full English, which was prepared to order and very good, as well as cerials, juices, etc, etc. Steve (the owner) cooked and Sue (his wife) served, and there was a decent banter around the small dining room each morning. A simple evening meal was also available at a reasonable price, although the number of restaurants and bars in the village means you can eat somewhere different every evening.

As I said, the station was only a few minutes walk, with frequent trains into Basingstoke (15 minutes) and then a change to Reading (15 minutes further), or London Waterloo (45 minutes). I can fully recommend an evening out in Basingstoke, which is one of those 'walkable' towns.

A couple of downsides to the hotel. My bedroon was right in the attic, so I had a 7'ish wake up call each morning as the pump for all the showers kicked in. Also, the hotel was VERY quiet at night, so if you'd prefer to stay in by the TV and chat, you need to being a friend along, although this might be a positive aspect to some.

My guess is that the Oaklea, for it's £60 per night rate, is probably the best in Hook, so I'd certainly concider staying there again if the need arose.
