This hotel is dirty, noisy and outdated. Our family room came with a pull out sofa, the seats and back of which were covered in suspicious stains. If we had brought a child with us, I wouldn't want them sleeping anywhere near the sofa splodges. The toiled had marks in and looked like it had been cleaned, then used immediately afterwards. The bath had no bath plug and the room only had one usable electric socket. This was clearly something even the hotel struggled with, as the tv was plugged in using a dodgy looking double plug extension. The room was extremely noisy, and every single footstep from the room upstairs echoed noisily throughout our room. Overall, terrible stay. Would not recommend!

A failing Travelodge, recently taken over by Metro Inns. Noticeably dearer by £15-£20 when booking in advance than when it was a Travelodge. Also now it's a Metro Inn, check out without incurring an additional fee is 10am rather than midday, and checking in after 11pm is chargeable, whereas it was free before; even the free tiny soap in the bathroom has been done anyway. The only plus point was that the Wifi is now free and was very fast, which is handy as there's no 3G mobile phone signal here on my network, Vodafone.

VERDICT: reasonable value if booking last minute, but better deals to be had at nearby Travelodges if booking in advance.

One of the drawbacks is that the motel is located adjacent to the north bound A3, which means a sizeable detour everytime you want to travel south. However a new 'Starbucks' has been opened next to the Travelodge which is useful.
Over the last few months this motel has been taken over by Metro Inns and is gradually being improved. The room we stayed in had just been painted and the shower updated. Apparently, Metro have plans to introduce microwaves and fridges, along with new wall mounted TV's but there is plenty of work still to be done.
If you are paying less than £30 for a room, the Travelodge offers reasonable value, especially if more improvements take place.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the A3 tend to be noisy.

I had the misfortune of staying in this property, thankfully only for one night! I stayed in February. It was a freezing cold day and when I got to my room the windows were wide open and no heating on! The curtains what hooks missing so did not close properly. The bathroom was functional. Plastic cups instead of glasses in the bathroom. The towels were so old I would use them as cleaning rag at home. The bed only had one pillow and the duvet was so thin I had to wear my dressing gown to bed. I would not recommend this property to anyone!!

Room Tip: I doubt there are any good rooms!!

Fine if it's a one off night to stay but would not recommend longer than 2 nights. Due to work commitments I had to stay for several weekday evenings on the bounce it was cheap and no frills for 2 months (a room per night from as low as £12 per night up to £24, then bizarrely was over £40 from then on so work moved me to another hotel. The staff were generally helpful when I was there but the rooms need updating and there is little in the way of evening restaurants/pub nearby.

We lived practically full time at this hotel whilst waiting to complete on our new house in the village. Admittedly, there is a smell of damp in the rooms and corridors and a refurb is way overdue, but it is cheap and the young staff are nearly all helpful and friendly (especially Lester - thank you). Overall, a positive memory.

It's grubby and smells, but the staff were very friendly and the bed was fine. My room overlooked the Shell garage and the curtains were ripped and badly hung but being right next to a Starbucks was handy!! Glad I only had to stay the one night but can't argue with the price. Oh and the remote control didn't work!
