“Lovely, happy place!”
Reviewed 3 July 2011

We visit Bashley on a regular basis as we enjoy what the site has to offer. Good value for money and so many things to keep the children entertained. For example: indoor + outdoor swimming pool, inside play area, outside play area, golf, huge playing field etc etc
The staff are always friendly and happy which is a bonus!
If you haven't been, definately give it a try! It's a happy place to be :-)

Reviewed 31 August 2010

We stayed at this park the last full week in August 2010. They offer onsite statics and tourers are welcome but no tents or trailer tents. I had no expectations of what this would be like, other than what I had seen on their website and was hoping that it would be a high grade caravan park unlike some of the other more well known brands in the UK which I definitely would not stay at. I was delighted when we arrived as the park was clean and tidy and had many facilities for families. The reception service was very good and friendly considering the amount of people that were checking in on a busy August, Saturday afternoon. The wait was minimal and the desk staff, efficient and friendly. We booked our caravan from a private owner, as opposed to the site itself, as this was considerably cheaper. There are many private owners on this site so if you want to save yourself a few quid then I would suggest you use a search engine to find one. Our van was good in the most part, very clean and tidy and modern. There were a couple of things that needed attention but I guess after a season's renting this was to be expected. None of the faults really offended or bothered us as they were really only minimal things. I didn't like the pitch as it was overlooking a car park one way and a brick wall the other but in terms of its accessibility it was very close to the shop and all the other amenities.

As for the site, it has a couple of outdoor pools (we didn't use these as the weather was pretty nasty the week we stayed) with loungers, tables and sunbeds. One pool was very shallow for the younger ones, the other intended for older children and adults. My husband and daughter used the indoor one on a few occasions and although not huge, it did have a water chute in it and sauna, solarium and turkish steam room which they both enjoyed. The amenity complex is all housed under one roof which was well planned and saved us on many an occasion getting a soaking as the weather was pretty poor.

There is a purpose built club (not huge and very busy at peak times) that had visiting cabaret acts, a kiddies club on a daily basis and disco for the kiddies on an evening. There is also a separate seating area outside of this should you wish to be a little quieter and joy of joys a small adult only bar where you can retreat from the kids, even if for only a little while. Adjacent to this is a small eatery and shop and games arcade.

Outside there is a crazy golf course, kids adventure park, tennis courts and 9 hole golf course. Whilst we were there, a circus was on the golf pitch and operated every Tuesday . We didn't go because this isn't really my thing but it was an alternative to the other entertainment should you wish to take it up.

There's a small Costcutter shop on site which stocked most essentials but big plus for me was the onsite bakery with fresh rolls, croissants and other sweet delicacies if you fancy this for breakfast!

The site is approx 5 mins drive from New Milton, a small busy town. Here you will find a Morrisons supermarket should you want to do a full shop when you arrive, We used this a couple of times, to stock up on some goodies!

The surrounding area is absolutely beautiful (even in the rain!) with the New Forest right on your doorstep, with it's wild ponies and purple heather. Christchurch is definitely worth a visit (about 15 mins drive) with it's lovely estuary, marina, priory and monastic ruins. Bournemouth of course, is about 20 mins drive with all the fun of a big seaside town, with too many things to mention here. We also visited Paulton's Park (a theme park for kids) which I think is aimed more at 0-10 yr olds than compared to Alton Towers. It was a bit expensive I thought as they charged full price for a child if they are over 1.0 metre, which I thought was a bit naughty.

Do visit Beaulieu Motor Museum and house/monastery as this is a good day out with lots to see for all including vintage double decker buses which you can ride on and a Top Gear exhibition. You can buy tickets for many of the local attractions at the site reception at a discounted price and boy was I glad we did when we got to Beaulieu as we just cut through the waiting queues to get in! Fabulous attraction and def worth a visit!

All in all, great caravan site, beautiful area and plenty to do. Will definitely be visiting again soon.
