“Lovely break”
Reviewed 22 July 2014 via mobile

I can only echo the previous review in that this site is amazing ! Such a lovely touring field, very well kept, clean and tidy with very friendly and helpful wardens.

This holiday park is perfect in size in that it is big enough for there to be plenty to do but small enough that you feel the children are safe.

Fantastic new indoor pool and great outdoor pool, crazy golf, playground, bike hire, archery, sports field, pool, snooker, tabletennis, bowling, arcades and so it goes on, the kids just love it !

The restaraunt and bar area are very clean and tidy and in good overall condition. Just to leave an honest review one negative in that service was pretty slow for food but the staff are so friendly and polite you just couldn't get annoyed about it.

10/10 hoburne !

We have just returned from a second stay at Hoburne Bashley in our touring caravan and can't speak highly enough of this lovely holiday park.

The touring area is immaculate and spacious and a real credit to the very helpful Touring Wardens and staff. The pitches are divided by neatly trimmed hedgerows for privacy, the water points are plentiful and the shower block is also spotlessly clean. The whole area feels secluded and peaceful, yet it is only a short walk from the entertainment/pool complex and immediately opposite the large sports field, crazy golf, football pitch and children's adventure playground.

The main complex itself has everything you would expect to find: showbar, restaurant, bar, amusement arcade, children's soft play area, pool table, bowling, indoor pool, sauna, steam room, gym, excellent outdoor pool etc etc. There is also a good sized shop on site that catered for everything we needed.

The evening entertainment is typical holiday park cabaret and we really enjoyed the musical duo that featured on the Friday evening. There is also plenty of entertainment for the kids and bingo.

I said this in my previous review of Hoburne Bashley and I will say it again: the prices here are far lower than you will find at Parkdean or Haven sites. The crazy golf cost us just £1 each, the bowling is only £1.50 for a two player game and the arcade machines are all 50p or less. It's nice being able to give the kids a few quid to spend in the arcade knowing that they won't be back thirty seconds later for more!

Hoburne Bashley is a charming site that represents real value for money and I can't think of a single negative thing to say about it. This was our second visit and we will definitely be returning on a regular basis now we have found this little gem. It really is a credit to all the staff who make this site such a pleasure to visit.

This is a most wonderful site. The caravans are not too close together, the new swimming facilities are wonderful, the food is fresh and reasonably priced ( as are the drinks from the bar) and its an easy drive to so many places of interest. We shall definitely be going again. Our caravan, unfortunately, was not the one we originally booked and was pretty poor. This was through a private owner so be very careful who you book through. I am taking my complaint up with Mr Hughes separately.

Thanks for your review. We're pleased to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us. It's a shame to hear your accommodation booked through a third party was a let down - thank you however, for not letting that affect your rating of our park, which we appreciate!

We booked to stay at this site at random through an internet search and hired a static caravan through 3ks Caravans which is owned by a nice chap called MIck. Firstly we hired a 2 bed static pet friendly caravan which was the best I have ever stayed in. Normally pet friendly means a smelly low end caravan but this was great and fully equipped with two toilets and showers, Sky tv and a Free View tv in one of the bedrooms. Every thing was supplied you could think of in the caravan right down to a decent hoover. Spoke to Mick on departure and apparently he has 10 caravans on site not all pet friendly.
The park it self was very clean and I thought modern we bought passes for the club house which gave us access to the Swimming Pools which are extremely modern and I would guess not long opened with great changing rooms. The inside pool was quite big not to deep but ok and was surrounded by some kids water features to keep them entertained. There was also a couple of steam rooms and a large Jacuzzi. Outside there are two pools one kids and another large adult pool both excellent. We did not use the club in the evening except the bar but it all looked nice.
The park also offers a very large football pitch and kids park, Archery and golf facilities plus tennis courts.
We took our dog and nephew and "most" caravans had a in-closed balcony so you could leave the door open and not worry also there was plenty of places to walk the dog. We found the small shop expensive but supermarkets are a 5 minute drive. Tesco's was the biggest. What we also good was the New Forest open top bus tour came straight on to the site and you could catch the bus outside Reception.
We found this a great base the IOW Ferry was a 20/25 min drive to Lymington and a walk down by the sea at Milton on Sea is a must with great views of The Needles.

Unlike most reviewers of this caravan site, we're owners of a holiday home here - and have been for four years. But I guess this doesn't bar me from posting a review about Hoburne Bashley. It's just that my review is based on an extended holiday experience - if you see what I mean! It's my own view - I've no idea whether my individual perspective would be shared by other caravan owners on the site.

Anyway . . to start at the beginning. When Mrs Mineworker and I decided to buy a "holiday home" (ie a caravan) when we retired I spent several months personally visiting a number of caravan sites on the south coast of England (for the weather, you understand. We live in Wales!). I reckon I visited about 20 sites - armed with a questionnaire that we'd devised - to assess which would be best for us. I was looking at things like location, environment, cleanliness and maintenance of the site, helpfulness of staff, swimming pool(s), leisure facilities . . you can see the sort of thing. At the end of it all, Bashley came out on top. So we bought four years ago - and we haven't regretted it.

The location, on the fringe of the New Forest, is superb. Beaches (and Bournemouth) close by and the wonderful walks and pubs of the New Forest all around. We feel safe when we're in our caravan - site security seems very good - and, although we don't use the clubhouse much, it's there if we want to. As a keen, but inconsistent, golfer I'm a regular user of the 9-hole, par-3, golf course on site. Although there's no water or sand, many of the par-3 holes are testing because of their length and there's enough rough to keep you on your toes. There's no doubt the condition of the course has improved markedly over the last few years and the fact that the course now boasts access to a golf pro is a positive bonus. If you're visiting Bashley on holiday, don't forget to bring your clubs!

We don't eat at the clubhouse so I can't comment on the quality of the food, as others have done. But there are lots of local pubs within easy driving distance - try The Plough just up the road towards Sway. The staff are friendly, there's a good menu with reasonable prices, and the large beer garden is great on a summer's day.

And that's it. We always look forward to our regular trips to Bashley. We've never left to go back home without thinking that we've had a good time. And we've never thought that it might have been better if we'd bought elsewhere. The only drawback for us? The birds start their dawn chorus at about 4.30 am on summer days. Now if the site could do something about that . . . .

Thanks for your review! It's great to see a review from an owner giving your thoughts on your 'extended holiday' here at Bashley. We feel privileged that we were your first choice in purchasing a home away from home and it flatters us to know that you feel you made the right choice in choosing to become an owner with Hoburne!

Thanks for the review, and we look forward to seeing you again soon for another great holiday. Cheers!

We spent the May half term week with our three grandsons. Having stayed at Torbay last year and having a really good holiday there, we decided to try Bashley.
We had a really good holiday, the facilities are first class, the staff worked hard and our Platinum caravan was excellent.
We would highly recommend Hoburne as a company.

We stayed in a silver static caravan for a week (had to get a disabled one due to my dad's limited walking ability). On arrival the staff were friendly and the caravan nice and clean. Personally I wouldn't stay in a silver caravan again myself but it was our choice and no fault of the park at all. Overall the park is kept very clean and tidy, we saw plenty of staff around keeping the place prim & proper. Personally I didn't use the facilities but the outdoor kids pool looked very nice, as did the indoor one.

My biggest and probably only real complaint is to do with the quality (or lack of) food in the parks restaurant. We decided to eat here on our first evening due to the convenience after a long 5hr drive. I wish we hadn't bothered. There was 5 adults and 2 children in our party and each of the adults left some of their meal. The sausage and mash which one person ordered was in fact SMASH and not real mash, the sausages were decidedly average. Another person had the lasagna which again was very bad. Personally I had the burger & chips. The burger initially looked nice but on closer inspection the burger was very thin and not meaty at all. On picking up the burger this was literally dripping in what I assume was fat. I normally demolish meals and leave nothing, but on this occasion I left some.

To the manager of the park - You have a nice local farm shop no more than 2 - 3 minutes up the road. Why not purchase your produce from them such as you burgers and veg? I for one would like to see local produce on the menu and a big improvement on the quality of the meals.

Aside from the above I would definitely go back again but would just avoid the food and eat out (there's plenty of choice locally).
