Owner description: Sammy Miller MBE is a motorcycling legend, 11 times British Champion, winner of over 1400 events and still winning competitions more than 50 years after his first victory. The Museum houses one of the finest collections of fully restored motorcycles in the world, including factory racers and exotic prototypes, with the collection constantly evolving as new bikes are acquired. There are over 400 rare and classic motorcycles on display in four galleries - one of which showcases the fabulous Norton Collection. The museum is set within an attractive courtyard, with tea rooms, craft shops and children's play area. It is also home to many chickens, donkeys, goats, alpacas and two aviaries.

The museum was excellent, even for the non bike enthusiast - there is lots of memorabilia and related paraphernalia around, you can appreciate the aesthetics of the machines. Its a great repository to keep motorcycle history at one place and its staff are friendly and knowledgeable. It doesn't advertise a picnic site (as far as I could see), but one review mentions it. We took a picnic as the on site restaurant doesn't cater for all dietary requirements. There were 2 picnic benches in a small child's play area, abutting the car park - not the nicest spot . Both looking rather old and one covered in bird droppings. You cant use the restaurant's outside benches, and there arn't really any patches of grass you can sit on, so if you intend taking a picnic, look for somewhere else nearby off site. You can always come back to the museum later as you are given a sticker to gain re-admittance. I don't think the admission fee is unreasonable in view of the number of bikes there, taking into account the cost of keeping the place going and the ongoing work to maintain, restore and buy new machines to keep these accessible to the public and enthusiasts.

I've been an avid visitor to Sammy Millers for a number of years and it still never fails to amaze me. New exhibits arrive on regular basis. I picked up an old Triumph tank badge at a car boot sale the other week. I'll donate it on my next visit if he can't use it he'll put it on a roof beam until it's needed.

I enjoyed a wonderful hot bacon bap with a very generous portion of freshly cooked bacon, and a hot chocolate with about ten times more mini marshmallows than you would ever get in a chain coffee shop! Friendly staff too. Didn't visit the museum as I was just eating between work visits.

Rode to Sammy Millers to day for the classic ride in Always wanted to go should have done it a long time ago. Good value for money (£7.50) You will see bikes you never heard of before. Good food in the cafe. Excellent.
