“Another wonderful stay at Chewton Glen”
Reviewed 25 January 2013

We've just had another wonderful post-Christmas stay at Chewton Glen and been very well looked after as usual by everyone. Our three year old and one year old were given little soft toys on their beds and even had little bath robes in the bathroom. A really nice addition since last time was a Nespresso coffee machine and selection of coffee pods in the room. Although the weather was very cold we still got to take them out on the swings and slide as well as swimming in the indoor pool. Although we weren't staying in them this time around we were given a tour of the new Treehouse suites which look amazing for couples and for families with slightly older children than ours. Having not been for a while the re-styled restaurant and new menu to try was a delight with some totally awesome desserts we'd never tried before. On the final day the snow arrived and we nearly got snowed in (can think of a lot of worse places to get snowed in!), however we did make it out OK - unfortunately! This hotel is well deserving of its status of one of the best regarded luxury hotels in the UK.

Room Tip: We like the Poacher Suite (rm21) which is decorated in very contemporary style has a small office w...

Chewton Glen has it completely right! The staff of every other five star hotel should make a visit to see how things should really be done!

The thought and detail given to every aspect of your visit is exemplary - the staff are welcoming, elegant and charming (there is no 'is everything alright' annoyance) and the ingenuity and presentation of the food is outstanding. It is always a delight to be so taken with a menu that making a decision is a huge - but pleasurable - problem. It is even more of a delight when the result of the choice exceeds expectations.

The new 'tree houses' are the most wonderful love-nest escape for lovers - who wish to do just that.

The feel good factor is much enhanced by the Chewton Glen's policy of having no service charge - or any other niggly (money-grubbing!) add-ons which so often take the edge off an otherwise happy experience.

Whether you arrive at the heli-pad (to be met by a friendly member of staff in golf buggy) or at the front door in your mini - you will not be disappointed.

Room Tip: Google the tree house rooms to choose your escape!

Lovely setting. Lots of parking, staff really helpful and welcoming. New Treehouse suites are beautiful all with own hot tub on balcony. The Spa area is very relaxing. Everything you could possibly need is within the complex. The Treehouse suites are a perfect retreat for a romantic weekend and quality time together.

Room Tip: Corner suites have dual aspect which is great for light and then have double balconies or patio. All...

We stayed for a few days during the October half term. Though expensive, the overall experience was excellent. There is a childrens buffet at 5pm serving high quality kid friendly food, this was included in the price. There was a kids club with organised activities which was quite good and gave us time to relax and go to the spa. There was also kids hour in the spa pool which the kids loved. We had a suite which was actually too small for 4 people (our kids are only 2 and 4 so not big). There was a king bed and a sofa bed. The sofa bed was basic and not that comfortable and in the evenings, if you don't have a babysitter and go to the restaurant then you are stuck in the room with the sleeping kids and the small room size means (also not divided in any way) you can't really put the lights on or the TV on normal volume as the kids are sleeping. The bathrooms were lovely with a huge walk in family shower - the kids loved it. Breakfast was not included and was extremely expensive for what it was. I would try to get breakfast included in the rate next time. Staff were very eager to please and friendly.

Room Tip: If you are a family, a suite is too small.

I had visited Chewton Glen a couple of times about 8 years ago and thought I would take my partner for a birthday treat. From start to finish the weekend was perfect, our room ( a duplex) was amazing giving a hotel stay a totally different dimension with a court yard downstairs and a terrace upstairs. The service was as good as it had been all those years ago from everyone you encounter, the little touch like the barman remembering your name makes all the difference. We sampled the restaurant and the spa during our stay, both memorable experiences that enhanced our truly luxurious, relaxing weekend. We have had the pleasure of staying in some of London's top hotels but we would opt for Chewton Glen again and again.

I booked a table for dinner here as a surprise for my girlfriends birthday. On arrival we were greeted at the door and shown to the bar. We were given menus to look at while we had a drink and were then shown through to our table. The food was absolutely amazing - I had the venison and my girlfriend had the duck. The service was faultless - from the sommelier, to the girl serving our food - we felt so looked after. We went back through to the bar and a gentleman bought over a small chocolate dessert with a candle and Happy Birthday on it for my girlfriend - this was a pleasant surprise and just a small touch like that shows how much the staff care about their customers.
We then went and sat at the bar for more cocktails and were well looked after by the man behind the bar - we never found out his name but his knowledge and skills were second to none!! He even custom made some cocktails for us using our favourite blend of drinks.
All in all it was an amazing experience and one I and certainly my girlfriend will never forget!
Thank you for making it a night to remember!
