“Tree Time”
Reviewed 14 January 2014

Stayed in a tree house - these are very special - spacious well designed - very romantic & self contained. Pricey, but worth it for a special treat. High tech - I went 'uh oh' (& I work in IT) when been shown round & sure enough the tablet room guide didn't work, the Sky on TV (guys suggest you check the gear each room change). Private hot tub on the balcony :) Dinner to the room was good and a large continental breakfast next day -all in all very good.
The main building wasn't that great, the spa was very full & all the loungers by the pool taken for the day by guest who drop a book on them & then drift off. But it was good to see that they have childrens swim times. The restaurant food in the main house for me, was only OK, at that price.
The grounds are really pleasant and they have a great pitch & putt course.

Room Tip: book in advance, the treehouses are popular

Lovely place to stay for a spa weekend with my sisters. Although the hotel has more rooms than I would normally like, the grounds are large enough that we barely saw anyone other than at meal times. The outdoor pool was a lovely place to spend time in the sun, but did get a little crowded. The three of us shared a twin room with a sofa bed which was very comfortable and made up daily. The room also had a lovely small garden and luxurious bathroom with spa bath.

My wife and I stayed for 2 nights between xmas and new year to break up the cabin fever of being at home with family.
After a terrible M25 journey, we arrived to a very warm welcome. The porter parked our car and brought the luggage to our room. When I offered a token of appreciation it was declined with a return offer of a hand shake instead. What a great first impression. Our room was very big (deluxe king) and was immediately pleased with it.
We were expecting a couples break and our first impression was surprise at so many families/small children being there. However after working out how much is on offer at this hotel, combining luxury with stuff for kids to do then it all made sense!
We had dinner in the Vetiver restaurant the first night and the Venison fillet was excellent. Food and wine both expensive but all very good and an enjoyable experience. (if you fancy a dinner outside the hotel for a night, try the Oak Inn near Lyndhurst, 10 miles, 15 mins down the A35 and a hotel recommendation - fabulous home cooked food and great value).
Breakfast was very good too, especially enjoyed the bacon and the sausages from the menu.
Our first night's sleep was interupted by noisy neighbours partying until 1am but I can't blame that on the hotel. Also, the bed wasn't the most comfortable and was 2 beds pushed together.
The bar and lounge areas were very comfortable too, especially the lounge it was nice to listen to the piano player Sunday lunchtime with the sun shining.
The service quality was absolutely excellent at all times, never intrusive and this was an area that really set the hotel apart. Well done to the entire team.
We used the spa area, my wife had some treatments and enjoyed herself and compared well with her favourites (Pennyhill Park & The Grove). I used the pool areas which were comfortable and relaxing with towels always in full supply.
A very enjoyable break and we would certainly return - kids or no kids.

Room Tip: I don't think there is a bad room, if you can afford, try the tree houses

Spent two nights in a Tree-house between Christmas and New Year. The accommodation is very luxurious and our two children loved the hot tub on the decking and the gorgeous views of the forest. We had a separate bedroom (pod) though a glass enclosed walkway and the kids slept on pull out beds in the living room. We could not fault the Tree-house.

A continental breakfast is delivered to your room each morning by way of a hatch so when you wake up it is there. If you want a traditional English breakfast this is served in the hotel which is about a 3 minute walk away although you can get a buggy if you wish.

The spa is excellent and the kids can swim between 9.00am and 10.30am and 4pm and 5.30pm in the indoor pool which they loved. For such an upmarket hotel there were plenty of kids there.

When we arrived the lunch service was a bit haphazard but this was partly due to us arriving late and part of our party having the full lunch menu and some of us only being able to have the bar lunch. However we were offered a full refund on the entire lunch and promised the next two days would be better. This was very nice and indeed we had two excellent dinners in the hotel.

We booked babysitters both nights and ours (Kirsty) was excellent. This enabled us to relax and enjoy the hotel in the evening. The kids joined us for an early dinner one evening and they were made very welcome.

Overall a fantastic tree-house short stay and we will certainly return.

Room Tip: You must try the tree-house!!

I spent four days here at the beginning of December to celebrate my birthday. We stayed in a 'state room' (I think), which was huge - with a sitting/tv area, large balcony and spacious bathroom (filled with REN products), immaculately clean and decorated in the old fashioned country house style that favours comfort over minimalism: carpets, cosy big armchairs etc.

The service and attention of the staff was impeccable, and just the right balance of attentiveness without being obsequious or intrusive. Dinner in the restaurant was delicious - though quite pricey and a little too formal and 'fine dining' for us to eat there each night. Room service offered the perfect alternative.

The Spa at Chewton Glen is wonderful - probably the best I've been to, and offers a fabulous menu of treatments and holistic therapies including world renowned Linda Meredith facials, which I had and yes, I'd give it 10/10. The pool is gorgeous and the hydrotherapy baths are great for de-stressing!

I've visited many spas and hotel spas and normally go to Babington House for my birthday, so this was different, and in many ways a lot more old fashioned, but perhaps also more luxurious. I will definitely go back.

Just returned from a wonderful visit to Chewton Glen for the Christmas House Party . My partner and I travelled with my parents for the 4th Christmas in and row .

This year we stayed for 4 nights in the lovely tree house where breakfast is delivered to you via a hatch , meaning breakfast in your dressing gown !!

Also giving you the feel of being away from the hotel which is a 2 minute ride away in the golf cart .

Lots of champagne , too much food and extremely friendly staff .

The evening entertainment on Boxing Day is excellent with a very good band Too Darn Hot and their excellent vocalists.

Looking forward to the next visit .

The hotel is just stunning and the service first class. The weather outside was ghastly but inside was welcoming and festive. Afternoon tea was lovely with added champagne and comfort you won't find in many places. A good selection of tea, sandwiches and cakes - they even gave us boxes to take home the ones we could not eat. A lovely treat for those who appreciate the finer things in life. Worth a visit.
