“Fabulous Carvery and Al a Carte Menu”
Reviewed 17 June 2014

We have visited this establishment on several occassions now and each time the food, service and atmosphere are excellent.
The carvery is amazing and we have also eaten off the al a carte menu, which is also excellent.

“Good food and excellent value”
Reviewed 13 June 2014

Three of us tried the £6.25 OAP two course menu. This consisted of a full carvery with help yourselves vegetables and salad bar, followed by dessert. Other places give pensioners small portions but not here. The meat was really good and the whole meal enjoyed by all. We shall return...

“good meals/excellent value”
Reviewed 29 May 2014

The wheatsheaf has to be THE place for a carvery in the local area.
The food is always excellent & the 'all you can eat' curry nights on a Monday & Saturday night is superb.
They have a good selection of real ales and the staff are always happy to help.

“Best carvery in the area”
Reviewed 19 May 2014

Having eaten at the Wheatcheaf on many occasions, i thought it necessary to comment about their superb food served. We have eaten carvery there for maybe the past 20 Sundays now in a row, the reason being is that, its reasonably priced, always beautifully prepared tender meat, with a choice of Beef, Turkey or Gammon, an array of vegetables, including a beautiful ratatouille, and also red cabbage, which is a rarity in most carverys, and perfectly cooked vegetables, and even a choice of salad if sometimes you just want a light meal. The service is friendly and helpful. We go there on a Sunday, the two of us, as to cook a meal at home to this standard with such a choice would cost us more by the time we have bought it all and used the gas to cook, and we dont even have to wash up all the pots and pans after, so thats another up side! We have also tried curry night, once again, no complaints, the choices of curry is fantastic, all very tasty. The Wheatsheaf is a relaxing pub, no hecticness. There is also a lovely large beer garden with an area for the children. Having been elsewhere on the odd occasion, it never matches up to the Wheatsheaf. I would recommend to anyone.

“Prices not as advertised”
Reviewed 22 April 2014 via mobile

Six of us decided to have the carvery on a Sunday evening which was advertised at £7.95 per head - a pound dearer than any other day of the week which was fine by us. We sat down with our drinks and when we were issued our meal ticket it indicated that we had been charged £8.95 per head. We queried the price straight away and was told by the manager that because it was Easter Sunday it was dearer even though it was not shown anywhere on the menu or anywhere else. He said his staff should have explained. The fact is that they had not and the managers reaction was that if we did not like it we should take a full refund on the meal and go without the carvery. Well we did not take the refund and politely went and ate our food. Having spent over £100 on food and drink in a almost empty pub entertained by a manager/landlord with a could not care less attitude my advice is that there are better and friendlier pubs around the area.
