Description: The Old Drum is a contemporary country pub in the centre of town. Real ales from local micro-breweries that change regularly, and fantastic locally sourced food all available in a relaxed, eclectic environment. There are three open fires, leather sofas and happy, smiling staff.Recently refurbished, we have discovered and uncovered the beautiful 16th Century pub that was hidden beneath layers of neglect. A wonderful beamed ceiling in the older part of the building and a twelve foot tongue and groove ceiling that has lain hidden since the sixties! We have ditched the sticky carpets and replaced, where necessary (and there was a lot of necessary!) The wooden floors with reclaimed timbers. Some of the brickwork has been left exposed and an amazing pin wheel cellar door now stands proudly behind the bar of the snug. The daily changing menu ranges from sharing platters and many pub classics. To a full on Sunday dinner

“Great experience and best beer in town!”
Reviewed 17 March 2013 via mobile

At last, great food and the best beer available locally. (Bowmans)
We went their on a Saturday night, food was good and served in a relaxed friendly Enviroment. Great to see a pub in Petersfield serving Bowmans beer!, we have been travelling far and wide in the local area to find the right combination of food drink and atmosphere, looks like the Old Drum has come up trumps. We look forward to being regular customers from now on. Good luck with the new venture and keep up the good work.

“A quick but memorable visit...”
Reviewed 8 March 2013

Popped in with my husband before lunch at JSW that was booked for my husband's Christmas pressie.
Although we only stopped for a quick drink we were very impressed with the welcome we received! The place was warm and cosy with comfy chairs, a roaring fire and a great looking menu which we will definitely be returning to sample in the near future!

“Excellent location”
Reviewed 2 March 2013

This a busy place for lunch, in the town center, close to two car parks. The staff is friendly, the 2 dining rooms are warm and cosy. The menu is a little bit limited but looks good. I had the rillettes, they did not look neither taste like rillettes; they were presented as a log, were difficult to cut and needed more seasoning. There was also some parfait with a ginger biscuit which was delicious. For main course we had ox cheek with a scoop of seasoned mashed potatoes. The meat was very tender and tasty but a little extra dish of fresh vegetables for four would have been welcome. The cassoulet with a leg of duck looked dry and rather unappetizing which did not fit with the modern and contemporary image of the pub. Food can be ordered until 2; by 3 the whole restaurant was empty. We went for lunch, will not go back for lunch but might try dinner one evening. A rather disappointing experience. The lack of salt and pepper on the table was also an omission which does not give the best impression of a restaurant.
