Went to stay in this B&B (calls itself a guest house)in August 2006 as our friends were getting married in nearby Petersfield (langrish House), which was full.
This B&B was recommended to us as it was only 1/2 mile away.
Mrs. Sprinks greeted us at 2pm in the afternoon (the wedding was at 3), but told us that we would have to wait for our room to be made up (despite the fact that check in is from midday, and there are only 2 rooms available in the entire property).
Once we were shown to our room, we were told that we would have to be back by 11pm at the latest! When we explained that the wedding reception was until 12.30pm, she told us our deadline was midnight, and that we had to book a cab to prove we would be returning by then!
- its important to note that none of this information was stipulated to us beforehand... had we known, we would naturally have gone to stay in a hotel (the rooms were £65 per night, which was pretty much the same as hotels in the area).
The room itself was terrible - very dusty and littered with trinkets etc. it was very cramp (bathroom was an old wardrobe which was taken out to have a shower cubicle fitted into it! Tere was no frosted window in the 'bathroom' either!
We left to attend the wedding, and were again, told very clearly that we needed to be home by midnight (no keys etc available).
Upon our return that evening, Mrs. Sprinks let us into the building and followed us up to our bedrooms and promptly stood outside until we switched our lights off! my husband wanted a shower, but was too scared too!
The folowing morning, when we went to breakfast Mr and Mrs. Sprinks, refused to talk to us, and promptly served a very unsatisfactory breakfast. Shortly after, The owner came into our room (without knocking, whilst i was undressed), and told us that they needed to go to church and wanted us to leave within the next 10 minutes! bearing in mind that it was only 10am (and again, with no literature, stating check-out times etc), she again waited outside our room, keeping the door ajar, until we packed and left.
When we packed up our car, i went to close the door behind me and had it slammed in my face by her husband!
I would certainly not recommend this place to anyone!!! please also bear in mind that this establishment had no stars, rosettes or any literature suggested they had guest house or B&B affiliation. They sell themselves as a guest house that caters for people attending events at Langrish house, but had absolutely no literature stating curfews etc.
The more hostile this couple became, the more we tried to appease them. it is very clear that the owners do not wish to run a guesthouse, but that it is a means of generating an income for them. There are much nicer (and cheaper!) places you can stay, and i seriously advise you to do so!
