There was no plan to stop here, I just needed to make a phone call and it looked nice enough to entice me in for a quick bite.

The pub was nearly empty but service was with a smile and chirp, and the quickly ordered food was quickly delivered and even more quickly, woofed down with a gulp or two of OJ?

It's a nice place and I wished it had been an evening visit for p,erasure rather than a snatched businessman's lunch in a hurry. I'd go again without a doubt. Not too expensive, either.

We were a family of 7 adults 2 toddlers & 1 very young baby,From the minute we walked in the door until we came out 2.1/2 hours later nothing was too much trouble made to feel very welcome friendly waitress and decent food slightly dearer than some other local pubs but worth the extra.

Taken by friends for an early evening meal last Thursday. There were no Chef Specials available.
A Main Course Steak ordered medium rare arrived so overcooked it was sent back....the
replacement was only marginally better and would also have been sent back if we hadn't waited so long and were starving. A Main Course Char-grilled Gammon Steak appeared as three finely
slices of ham/bacon ...these covered a meagre small mushroom and tomato and was disgustingly presented. The two other meals....Salmon Skewer and Chicken were dried up, bland and very
small portions. Poor meals, poorly presented and absolutely not value for money. My direct
correspondence to the Restaurant about this has met no response.

I was taken to lunch here by my daughter and her partner. It is way out of my area, but a pleasant drive to Stroud, near Petersfield. Clearly an old pub, greatly enlarged, giving a terrific ambence both outside and in. Excellent broad choice in menu and specials and first class service.
