I have stayed at this hotel on 3 separate occasions and overall I would say this is a very good quality B&B. The building has a lot of history and is very central within Romsey (parking is not provided but there are plenty of local car parks that are no-more than a 5 minute walk from the hotel).
The staff are very welcoming and have always done their best to meet any demands I've had during my stays (such as needing an iron). The rooms are well equipped although I must add that some furniture is dated (management have explained that they are revamping the furniture within the hotel). In addition, please note that room sizes vary so much so that if you are a single traveler you will be allocated a rather 'cosy' room with a single bed (one of my stays unfortunately I was allocated this kind of room and I asked to change as it was too small for me).
The hotel tries to live up to it's 4* rating by adding little touches such as a welcome letter in your room which has some useful information regarding wifi (this is complementary) and weather predictions for the days ahead.
The brasserie is unfortunately rather pricey for what it is (I've paid less per person in VERY high-end London restaurants) but the quality of the food is very good. I will start with breakfast...If you have breakfast included in the room price then note that this will only include what is put out on the buffet table (which includes nice croissants, some fruit, yogurts. cereals, juices, toast and tea/coffee). Anything ordered off the breakfast menu will be extra which unfortunately did seem to catch a few people out. I hasten to add that the additional items which you do pay for are very tasty but do expect to pay in excess of £15pp.
Now for dinner...the quality of the meals was always great. No matter what I ordered, I was always pleased as the chefs do a great job. The only thing worth noting is that you will pay on average £25 per person for a 2-course meal.
