The venue was excellent, but what made this a highly enjoyable visit and stay was the people who manage and work there!, the standard and service levels exceeded our expectations.
The food and drinks were of a very high standard, and the rooms were well presented, could not have asked for more!, looking forward to further visits there.

Booking easy. rooms comfortable & well serviced. breakfasts 1st class ( excellent kippers). staff very helpful. Only disadvantage is no control over the weather and not many taxis available. Why do I have to say more about this excellent venue to satisfy the demands of this web-site?

We went for the lazy Sunday package and we had the most fantastic time from the moment we arrived.
The food and accommodation were first class.
I really cannot say anything bad about this lovely Hotel.

My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights for our wedding anniversary - wanting a smallish hotel with modern rooms and good food - and this ticked all the boxes. We checked in on the Friday afternoon to a warm welcome - the room was ready so we dumped our stuff and explored the town. Romsey is a nice market town with a few restaurants, shops, pubs and shops so was a pleasant place to wander around. We spent an hour in the bar area where the service was good before relaxing in our room. We decided to have dinner in the restaurant that night and we really did have a lovely meal. Very gastro pub/seasonal and very well executed - the service and food did not disappoint and the prices are reasonable. Breakfast is good with a choice of full English, vegetarian, eggs benedict, kippers, porridge etc as well as the help yourself area for fruit, cereals, pastries. We stayed 2 nights and throughout our stay the staff were very helpful, service was good and the rooms were very modern and comfortable. Even though the property is on a main road the rooms face the back so it is not noisy - I would definitely recommend this hotel.

The rooms are wonderful, finished to a high standard and incredibly comfortable.
We have eaten here before and enjoyed it so we decided to try again. The food as remembered was excellent.
However the service was dire, to the point where for the first time i can remember i did not tip, which the staff did not fail to make a point of noticing. Our wine was literally "dumped" unopened on our table with a mutter of here's your mine. This is after we waited nearly 30 minutes for our drinks order, which we then had to ask for. The lady i assume was the restaurant manager spoke so quietly you were constantly were asking her to repeat , and i would question weather she smoked as she stunk of nicotine when bringing over our food.

the wait staff did not even look or talk to you when clearing plates or bring orders over, and for what was nearly 5 minutes the noise from the kitchen can only be described as a cutlery fight.

I have had better service at Nando's and do not see the age of the staff as an appropriate excuse. As much as i enjoyed the food and they stay i would not eat there again.
The service is disgusting for any level eatery let alone one priced like this.

Room Tip: stay here but eat else where

After 6 months of planning, we had our wedding reception at The Cromwell Arms on Saturday. The staff were all brilliant and so helpful - despite a panic when the manager hurt himself 3 days before the big day, the rest of the team pulled it all together for us and our guests. Everything we'd asked for was carried out to the letter, the food was absolutely delicious and the rooms were comfortable, spotless and really well appointed. Claire, Resh, Harvey and the team - thanks once again for all your help, we loved every minute of our day! Dan - thanks for your help with the planning, hope you're feeling better by now!
