This was a very unusual experience and entirely our fault at not noticing that the photos of open plan bathing actually meant a loo in your room. Although it did have a privacy screen exactly the width of the loo, unless you had your head on the pillow, you had a great view of it, especially if you opened the door from the communal upstairs hallway. Now I am mystified as I can't think of any advantages to this facility. You can see it, hear it being used and smells travel!
Apart from this unexpected item, it was rather lovely. The only other misunderstanding was the living area which was two areas separated by the stairs and a breakfast table. I had mistakenly interpreted 'the barn divided into two' to mean a separate living area for yourselves. It is an odd arrangement as you share it with the only other guests, two strangers. Could be awkward. Would be fine to share with many guests but one other couple, do you talk or ignore each other, do you switch on the tv or not? Just a bit weird for me. I wanted peace, tranquility and privacy to spend a weekend away with my husband but did not really achieve that with this accommodation.
Breakfast, you will need to be specific about the time. There is no margin for having a lie in at the last moment or getting up earlier if you spot glorious sunshine first thing. Quality of cooked breakfast could be improved by better sausages, we didn't order cooked on our second morning.
I am sorry that my review isn't better as the owners were very nice people and wanted the best for the guests. The mistake was ours in not perceiving the open plan toilet and in thinking the living areas were private.
All the reviews in the visitors book were great, we didn't enter ours as it obviously wouldn't be fair to tarnish their glowing record with our views. To any reader of this review, it's a great place but be observant of the detail.

I stayed at the Yew Tree Barn with my fiancé and baby while touring around the south of England, and I have to say it is the most stunning b&b I have ever stayed in.

The rooms are extremely comfortable and decorated to a very high standard. The open plan bathroom is beautiful, and we especially liked the window which converted into a balcony as the view was magnificent. It's the perfect place for a romantic getaway.

Breakfast was absolutely delicious and we found Andrew and Christine to be very friendly hosts. I only wish we had stayed longer than 1 night but we definitely hope to return one day!

This is a beautiful barn conversion, clearly done with an expert hand. This B&B only has two rooms so you and the other max two guests have plenty of space to lounge around in (see attached photos). The B&B is separate to the owners house so you only really see them on arrival and of course at breakfast.

Both rooms are beautiful appointed and decorated. The bed is wonderfully comfortable as are the pillows and duvet all adding up to a great nights sleep. This is very much a romantic break destination. Yes as others have pointed out everything is open plan but that didn't bother us.

We've stayed in many luxury B&B's and for us there are just a couple of things that could be improved (but this is only our personal opinion):
1.We would have expected a welcome tea/coffee/cake on arrival, which is common place for this standard of B&B;
2.It would be useful to have more local information readily available, especially re restaurants recommendations. We were accidently sent to a restaurent that did not serve food on the evening we visited so we had to drive around and find an alternative;
3.The breakfast is wonderful, great choice of quality cereals, fresh fruit, juice, choice of preserves, lovely fried breakfast. The one thing that would have made this better is fresh uncut bread rather than pre-sliced. We've been to many B&B's that bake their own, but fresh from the bakery is just as good!

Stockbridge is a delightful small town to visit. It has several quirky little shops and some great places in which to eat. If visiting the area do not miss staying in this magnificent B&B.

Andrew & Christine have lovingly created a stunning green-oak barn and thankfully share it with guests who can unwind in just two truly luxurious rooms on its upper floor. They clearly take pride in creating a haven in which those staying can enjoy some relaxing peace and quiet in great surroundings and they are extremely welcoming hosts.

The rooms are very spacious and well appointed. I was especially impressed with the roof window that converts into a small balcony that overlooks the lawn extending down to the River Test.
You would have to look very hard to find a room that has such a resplendent contemporary bathroom. Its heated raised floor fitted with adjustable ambient lighting, an exquisite walk-in shower and a truly comfortable spacious bath, room enough for two is brilliantly designed. Yes the loo is not private but if you are in anyway shy then you or your partner can nip out onto the extensive landing and read one of the many magazines and books that are available! It’s certainly not an issue that should stop anyone choosing to stay here nor post a negative review about!

The breakfast choice is extensive, the food fresh, appetising and more than enough to stop you from feeling hungry all day.

Yew Tree Barn is a perfect escape for anyone who enjoys luxury but particularly ideal for romantics who yearn for the ultimate opulent bathroom. We could have spent days just lying in the bath!

Room Tip: There are just two rooms both of which are identical. The only choice you need to make is do you prefer black or white?!

This is a stunning location, fantastically well appointed rooms, Ideal for our romantic getaway. The hosts Andrew and Christine were very helpful, ( I wanted to keep some strawberries and champagne in the fridge the day before we went as a surprise, and they were most obliging and even put fresh flowers in the room for us) The Breakfast was lavish and very tasty, and enough for a huge feast really. The Barn is beautifully and tastefully decorated, and gets our vote as the best place we've ever stayed at, and I've travelled to 42 of the worlds countries so far.

Room Tip: Both rooms are equally wonderful, just pick your taste of design from the website
