Description: In the heart of Stockbridge, this distinctive building, with its colourful history as a private house and much loved garage, has been sympathetically restored into a superb venue for eating and drinking.

Ate here on a Friday lunchtime and sat ourselves at a table after no one greeted us. They were a bit slow on the uptake but eventually got menus and ordered. A mix up over the drinks didn't help but the food arrived and it was fine. The neighbouring table seemed to have a mix up with their food and one pair were greeted with 'sit where you like' as they entered.
The waiting staff weren't great - amateur and inefficient. The food was ok.
This is a relatively new restaurant in a popular village filled with restaurants!

We stopped on a hot day for lunch and were welcomed in and had a nice table and all felt cool.
The food was really good. The fish sharing platter excellent and the homemade accompanents lovely. A crisp cauliflower and onion relish and a proper crisp cucumber one too. Whitebait crisp and the croque Monsieur seemed fine but on white sandwich bread ans not very toasted. Lovely loos.

All in all a great find

Stopped opposite Stokes and wanted an afternoon snack, little on the menu was suitable,I ordered Croque Monsieur, not bad and on normal white bread. My wife asked for a Ham and tomato sandwich on brown bread, firstly the bread was hard and stale, the bottom layer being
3/4 inch thick and the top piece about 1/4 inch thick.,having struggling though one pice she open the sandwich and found the ham had brown streaks though it,The Waitress (a very young girl spoke with the kitchen and said that it must have been near the bone as all of the cutting is done early morning.
The waitress did not charge for the sandwich, but it spoiled our trip to Stockbridge

We had a wonderful lunch today (13July13) at Stokes of Stockbridge. We were a table of 10, aged from 8 to 80! The food was great quality and worth the money. All the staff were really attentive and friendly and were always on hand for our needs. The restaurant environment is lovely, fresh and has a bistro feel. We had a superb lunch, lovely ambiance and made a great day in Stockbridge. Highly recommended.

On a quiet Saturday evening we received immaculate service, and food of the very highest quality. I started with pork and apple croquettes with a cauliflower mustard picalilli. The picalilli was delicate, really allowing the flavour and textures of the vegetables to shine though, and really setting off the croquettes. The breaded knuckle of ham with glazed pineapple, fried egg and thrice-fried chips; simply delightful contrasts of flavour and texture, taking thehokey old 70s idea of ham with a bit of pineapple and turning it into something rather special. My dessert can best be described as "five things to do with rhubarb" - my favourite dessert fruit - and added peppered meringue for a crunchy, chewy, mouth livening experience. My companion had crab roulet, lamb, and coconut marshmallow. Three courses, you understand, not all on one plate. Not a smidgeon was left. All washed down with a pleasant, light, bottle of red wine (the "Fat B*st*rd"). All at prices which make London - three beautifully cooked, freshly made courses eac, a bottle of red, two-g-and-t's - £80. Wonderful value. Would I eat here again? You bet. Would I drive 60 miles for the pleasure. Undoubtedly.
